Florida played two teams going to BCS bowls this year. Beat both UGA and FSU. Granted, UGA was without Shockley, but absolutely blew out FSU a week ago.

And here we are with fingers crossed for the Outback Bowl.

No Justice, no Peace! Where's a playoff when you need it?

Just be thankful you're going to a bowl.

Amen.

Then again...we really don't deserve justice.

that's kinda like 2 years ago, when we beat florida at florida, miami at miami, bama on the road finishing 10-2 in the regular season, then getting jumped by an 8-5 florida for the outback bowl and being stuck in the peach bowl, where it was obvious we didn't care we were there.

Trust me, Shreveport is a whole lot better than the bowl we're going to :flush:

I'm at peace with our season...if UF takes care of buisness in the SC game then we'd be fine. Other than that it's been a two game improvement and prolly the Outback bowl..not a bad yr.

Bowls should be:

Sugar: Georgia
Capital One: Auburn
Outback:LSU/Alabama
Cotton: Alabama/LSU
Peach: Florida
Independence: South Carolina

Both Bama and LSU beat florida and have better records than UF. With Georgia winning the SEC UF deservedly is the 4th pick for the SEC affiliated bowls. IMO it has done what the system has intended. UF may have beaten the conference champs but both teams did enough to get to the championship game to win it. Hats off to FSU and UGA for beating the better teams in championship games.
Well i agree Georgia did what it had to do win the SEC East and get to the championship game. They only had to play MSU, Ark, and Auburn from the west. While UT and Florida had LSU and Bammer on their schedule. Perhaps UF would be in the SEC CG if UGA had to play bammer and LSU in the regular season.

UF isn't getting any because they don't deserve any.

Congrats on beating UGA/FSU

Stop losing to USC, Bama, LSU, and almost Vandy and you may get respect

I am not saying florida is better. LSU and Bammer showed that by beating them. Georgia simply did not have to play them during the season. Im just saying that georgia benefited from their lighter schedule to get the SEC CG. Perhaps they may not have fared as well playing bammer or lsu in the regular season as opposed to playing MSU and arkansas from the west. Granted they played auburn but UT and UF played 2 ranked teams out of 3 against from the west. With the way it played out florida deserves to be the 4th pick in the bowl picture from the SEC.

LSU is the team that got screwed.... They went from a BCS bowl all the way to the 5 team in the nation.... The Outback Bowl shouldnt have been allowed to pick UF just because its an SEC east team...

A lot of you make valid points and I'm not looking for sympathy. My main point was that as long as we have the bowls (be it straight up conference alignment or BCS) then the system is a fraud.

Look at FSU beating Va. Tech. FSU is not good enough to make $14 million in a BCS game. I'm sorry, they just aren't. There are many more deserving teams out there. Now, you could say that the ACC conference title game was like a playoff as far as Va. Tech is concerned. But if you say that, then why not go all the way and just have a decent playoff system, not one with pit stops along the way like this?

The whole thing is just a sham.

On this point that UT got screwed a couple of years ago as compared to the Gators.... then you guys ought to be championing my main point, which is that we have got to have a playoff system!!

I personally think that UT historically has not gotten the respect it deserved (this year it got too much, it turns out). UT is one of those schools that MUST go undefeated to get any attention from the BCS. If you were 8-3 or even 9-2 this year you'd be wallowing around in the mud with us.

Got to have a playoff.

I mentioned this on another topic. I believe this said bowl game traditionally waited until the higher bowls made their selection first and THEN made their pick. This bowl jumped out and selected before the other bowls had made their move.

Congrats on getting the Outback. I really thought they would invite S. Carolina if the Peach did not take them. Shows what I know.

I thought so, too. The nice thing about the way things have ended up for Florida is that I feel like the team is moving in the right direction. Beating the crap out of FSU is still a big deal to Gator fans and to the school. If the team can win the bowl game and finish at 9-3 heading into next year with a head of steam ...
