I agree with you, SJT...and the experts do, too!

The CQ value of the tests being administered are 40--meaning that the test is TOO SENSITIVE, and results in an inordinately high amount of false positives.
Many experts in the field of testing for RNA-strand viruses believe that value should be more around 25-30 in order to have a test that is NOT OVERLY SENSITIVE.

Do the research

I wished I knew what you were talking about. If you know them research people tell em to come up here in this holler where I live. There's 86 of us living up here and not a soul has come down with that covid bug at least nobody has been to the dr.Earl Wayne had the "can't help its "for a couple of days but he's back to work over at the new hemp farm where most of us work. We all took to it pretty good too..We all get together and play cornhole twice a week and swap the hog on the weekend so you would think at least one of us would get it.

Well if everyone agrees I hope they do something about it instead of keeping on giving the same test that gives more false positives than anything else. GBO!
Supposedly the CDC or FDA was trying to get the test manufacturers to a single standard... but they don't seem to be in any kind of hurry to report low infection numbers. You can figure out why for yourself.

I almost did not click on that as I saw NY TIMES...because it is a paywall of course. But it is a red state link, so all good. ;)
I actually have the original NYT's article somewhere. I was shocked that they printed it. This article actually goes into more detail though.

That is not a game cancellation <<yet>>.

From what I know, as long as they have 56 scholarship players and sufficient enough numbers at each position, the game is not cancelled.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but that was part of Vandy’s issue last week....barely had enough scholarship players available.

Your correct

Is this from actual positive tests or contact tracing?
Florida reported five positive COVID-19 tests within the football team on Tuesday morning. However, the Independent Florida Alligator -- and later the Associated Press -- report that number has ballooned to 19.

UF has an ultra-liberal President so he’ll have a quick trigger finger when it comes to shutting things down. They’ve already sucked the joy and passion from this football season, this just falls right in line. If they play Saturday, I’ll watch. If they don’t, I’ll watch other teams. When/if they crank UF back up, I’ll watch then.

I just find it ironic that Mullen ask for a full stadium and then all the sudden UF is full of cases. Something isn't adding up

What isn’t adding up? I wouldn’t spend too much brain power on the Mullen “full stadium” comments. I think that was frustration coming from UF’s home game against SC where you basically had 15,000 people spread out all over the place, including nosebleed sections, the stadium was as quiet as Church, compared to 50k screaming aTm fans right behind UF’s bench, not at all socially-distanced, causing false starts and missed assignments, etc.

I’m not sure how those comments had anything to do with a outbreak among UF players 3 days later. Bad timing, sure, karma, maybe. But I don’t see anything nefarious about it.

Latest I’m hearing, may be just message board rumors, is that between new “positives” and contact tracing, UF could be down about 29 players. No idea if that’s true, and no idea if they’ll even play the game with that many players out.

I’m also hearing that starting LSU QB Myles Brennan is doubtful for the game. Just another weird-ass LSU-Florida football week, as usual.

I suspect there will be a decision today on whether they will play this weekend. It doesn't look good though.

No. 10 Florida has five new COVID-19 cases.

The school reported its latest testing results Tuesday, four days before the Gators host defending national champion LSU.

Coach Dan Mullen praised the way his team has handled coronavirus protocols Monday, avoiding a major outbreak with the highly transmissible virus.

"If you look at what we've been able to do ... I think we're a model of safety of what we've been doing during this time period,'' Mullen said. "I'm really proud of how we've handled everything and how safe we've been with everything we're doing and all the precautions we've had in place during this time."

The team had 21 positive cases once players returned to campus in late May.

Ironic because he was pleading for permission to have a full stadium at their games.
