Not being a dual threat is good for us. If we can get pressure they won’t be able to keep up with our offense - assuming Joe has improved

But this year the gatas have to play in this altitude out here !
,
The 2023 season opener will be Florida’s first-ever trip to Salt Lake City. Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium‘s field sits at an elevation of 4,637 feet. The Gators play at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, a venue at an elevation of about 147 feet above sea level.
According to the National Library of Medicine, altitude impacts “football performance through two separate and parallel pathways,” including “the decrease in partial pressure of oxygen reduces maximal oxygen uptake and impairs “aerobic” performance by reducing maximal aerobic power” and “the decrease in air density reduces air resistance which will facilitate high-velocity running, but will also alter drag and lift thereby impairing sensorimotor skills.”

Utah lost their back up quarterback, who was projected to start week 1, to a lacerated liver. He’s out 6-8 weeks. Cam Rising, who would obviously be the starter if healthy, is still recovering from the torn ACL that he suffered in the Rose Bowl. Utah May have to turn to a walk-on against UF unless Rising is able to go.

That is a ridiculous take. I would like to hear what you honestly think. I honestly think UF will be much better than most think. Their record might not look great at seasons end but it’s a pretty tough schedule. I feel like at Kentucky is a pivotal game. If the Gators come out of that game at 4-1 or even 3-2, then things aren’t looking terrible.

No one cares what he honestly thinks.

I was actually hoping for a legit analysis

I gave that analysis about a month ago in the Sunbelt Billy thread, but I can restate it.

0-12 shtick aside, this team will struggle to make a bowl game. Mertz was barely average against Big 10 competition. His backup was garbage in our garbage bowl game last season.

This is a placeholder season for Napier, and this is easily one of the least talented and experienced rosters at UF in no fewer than three decades.

Good news is our 2024 class is stacked, and we’re in on some heavy hitters for 2025 as well.

But 2023? It’s gonna be a bumpy ride.
