Gators NC Impact

Florida's NC won't help or hurt us. Four and five stars won't sit the bench and wait 3 years to play for one. A Dynasty will never last in the modern time because the number of scholarships was reduced....ole Bear kept it going because he had a roster of 120 and could stock up on talent. Gators won it in 1996, we won it in 1998. As good as the Gators claim to be in the 90's, over the best 4 year run for both teams 95-98 they both won a National Championship and 2 SEC Championships...the Vols won 1 more game than UF over that time frame. What hindered the Vols for the last few years is the best talent waiting "their turn" riding the bench while players with less talent led the Vols on the field.

I've seen some fairly homeristic things on here, but that takes the cake.

Chris seems to forget our best years were 93-96. Football definitely is cyclical that is what makes 2 in 3 years in this conference even more amazing. USC almost having 3 in a row is a huge feat regardless of the conference.

Keep thinking that the Gators are gonna win it EVERY year. All teams go through a cycle. Teams may have a ten year run but it never lasts. Look at teams since the number of scholarships were reduced, Nebraska, USC, Oklahoma, Miami, FSU, OSU and the list goes on.....They all have something in common. These teams are good year in and year out but something always derails them. To think that isn't going to happen to UF is just crazy. Drink your koolaid and enjoy your 2 outta 3 but 2009 will be the same, just like the sun rises and sets, UF will blow at least 1 game.

We'll blow our 1 game, "back" our way into the NC game, win it, and still be having this convo next year. So we go on a 10 year run. This is year 3. 7 more baby.

OK. How about this. When you go to sleep tonight rest comfortably knowing that you have greater reason for optimism that 99% of other college fans.
I know, especially if Harvin and Spikes come back as well. I will rest peacefully tonight.

Also why not revel in the moment.....you know you would be doing the same. It has just been an incredible run for us Gator fans.

why are we discussing the best years of the gators during the 90's? if i'm not mistaken, in the here and now, they got 2 of the last 3. i think the last 3-4 years trump anything they did in the 90's.

as to how this affects us? it doesn't. we're probably going to lose next year at the swamp because Florida is still a better overall football team than us.

there's no magical elixer or formual to put together about how or why we might/should/will benefit from them winning another title.

they have better players than we do.

it really is that simple folks. but keep coming up with stuff, it's fun reading.

It doesn't do a whole lot other than get a few more guys interested in us. Recruiting is far game these days; otherwise you wouldn't have seen Andre Brown commit to Southern Mississippi last season. Players go to these smaller schools, it isn't all about the big boys now. It doesn't bolster Florida's recruiting chances much, if any, especially with our coaching staff losses.

I guess the benefit UT gets from it is our absence in the coaching staff.
