Gators will pay Idaho almost a mill for not playing game

Dig the instructions for purchases from non authorized third party ticket vendors. Anyone got a number for Mr. Cletus who works the brokerage in front of Burger King on Ocala Hwy?

Florida's decision was going to speak volumes one way or the other, and not willing to give up their bye week before they play the pups was not going to change the outcome of that game. Muschamp learn to get some balls.

Exactly. Florida is getting stomped either way. I hope this makes them miss a bowl game for punishment of cowardice. Assuming Florida was an advocate of not playing.

Don't blame Florida one bit. No way I'd give up the bye week before one of the 2 biggest games of the year.

Well, by doing this wouldn't it be safe to say that Florida has zero confidence in their ability to play for a national title? I'm guessing Muschamp is hoping getting to the SEC title game is what might save his job.

Even if it might cost you a bowl? FSU, Bama, LSU and Uga are four expected losses already. Then they have us, sc, Missouri as ones they could lose. Instead of having to beat one of those, they have to beat two. Granted it's not impossible but it's tough.

I don't really know how these contracts work, but wouldn't UF have to pay Idaho a second time in order to get them to come back later in the season? Surely Idaho wouldn't agree to make two cross-country trips for the price of one.

I wonder if florida just let their sixth win slip through their fingers without even playing a snap. A 5-6 record at the end of the season is entirely possible.

Hopefully you'd read the back of the ticket before filing the suit. That way you wouldn't waste money on hiring a lawyer only to have your case thrown out as soon as it gets onto a judge's desk.

Pssstt.....I don't think he can read

Since the game ended with no score shouldn't it be listed as a TIE?...I mean the game did start.

They could have still played the game and just have it closed and TV only IMO

They'd still have had to refund tickets. They'd still have to bring in and pay various stadium personnel. Idaho would have had to completely rework their charter flight and the shipment of their gameday equipment back across the country.

As far as TV goes, ESPN would have had to pay their folks the extra money to stick around, and would have had to shuffle their schedule on one of their networks to put the game on.

It's really not as easy as just saying "we'll play in an empty stadium."

Where would Idaho have slept? You really think you can get hundreds of hotel rooms in a moments notice?

It's hard enough to get hotel rooms around Knoxville months in advance, and Gainesville is much smaller

I'm guessing that their AD, Foley, is thinking: "if our chances of a bowl come down to one game, then I'm firing Muschamp and I'd rather focus on getting a new coach rather than playing in a crappy bowl game and losing money over it"

Do I really have to explain why you didn't think this point through?

Maybe Idaho didn't want to travel another 2700 miles... Let's just blame FL because it makes us feel better... :)

That and playing the game at the only available time would cause Idaho to be playing 10 straight games without a week off.

Florida's decision was going to speak volumes one way or the other, and not willing to give up their bye week before they play the pups was not going to change the outcome of that game. Muschamp learn to get some balls.

Both sides had to agree to whatever outcome were to happen. Idaho likely didn't want to play 10 straight weekends without a bye either (or make that trip down there again).

In all honesty, both probably wanted out of the proposed rescheduling.

Just saw this in another article, wanted to post it somewhere in here.

"According to the SEC rule book, if a game is suspended before the end of the fourth period and cannot be resumed, there are four possible options:

Resume the game at a later date.

Terminate the game with a determined final score.

Forfeit the game.

Declare a no contest.

"The athletics directors from both schools, in consultation with the coaches, must agree on one of the four options listed above. This agreement will include the final score if the game is terminated.

"If the game is resumed, it will begin with the same time remaining and under the identical conditions of down, distance, field position and player eligibility."

As if it was Muschamp's call on whether or not the game was rescheduled.

There's a heaping helping of stupid going on in this thread.

And the stupid continues.

"UF is a bunch of cowards!!! I mean, I know Idaho has a say in this also, and they probably didn't want to play 10 straight weeks without a bye but....yeah screw those Gator cowards if they didn't want to play even though I have no idea if that's the case or not." :lolabove:

Haha are you seriously that retarded? I even put out a disclaimer in there for that purpose, jackass. You also mockingly paraphrased my statement as if I was some redneck using too much hyperbole. Do you always read with this much exaggeration or was it a one time thing?
