Gavin Bryant commits to Vols!

I find that very hard to believe. I bet you go out with your friends to your local bar/pub and get crazy drunk while watching whatever team u cheer for. A British man who likes American football more is kinda odd. No offense but that would be like an American who perfers cricket over baseball or football. Thats jmo. I don't know you so I could be dead wrong.
Totally uncalled for. His entire posting history says Vol fan all the way.

First, let me freely admit when a Vol-loving Brit came on here and asking why the UT didn't leave the SEC for another conference, I lit into the guy like sodium metal on water. A few VN patrons pointed out he was British and not well-informed about such things. So deserved an explanation in lieu of a condemnation. Fortunately, I had enough sense to listen to those guys and our Brit friend was gracious about it when I apologized.

Second, one of the reasons so much of the world finds Americans obnoxious, and I HATE saying it, rejoice when we have a misfortune, is due to our arrogant behavior. It ranges from from American athletes stealing stuff from museums during the Seoul Olympics years back, to the bullying other nations economically, militarily, via other means.

Third, the hatred toward our country isn't really hatred, it's disgust with the arrogance we exhibit. The world knows the USA has done a great deal of good on all levels. But TOO often, as individuals and collectively we don't behave a nation that claims, "In God We Trust."

Fourth, your post (and mine when I made the same arrogant mistake) simply emphasizes a reason for overseas folks to continue their disgust with what should be the grandest nation to ever arise in the history of mankind.

Feel free to condemn me in the worse possible terms as that is what is to be expected these days. Personally, I find it enlightening that a Brit enjoys American football. A shame too many Americans can't look beyond our own borders and see that other countries have entertaining sports as well. If we took the time to at least fundamentally understand the games, we might become fans of the sport and a team as well. Indeed, soccer is finally taking hold in the USA. I think rugby is making inroads too. Hopefully it will help break down some of the blatant and snot dripping arrogance in this country.

Just finished watching his highlight video. I need to go change my pants. I'm loving how this class is shaping up.

I don't really have one, that's why I am on here! Vol football is where it's at!

Hi Stephen - I was in London last week with my daughter and her classmates - love your beer -loved the Abbey and walked about 8 to 10 miles every day catching the tube, etc. Great city - but your food needs a little work. Note -- My son bought a Blue soccer jersey with Perez on the back - can't remember the name of the team.

hmm I'm drawing a blank, was it Tevez maybe instead of Perez? or Torres? or maybe it wasn't an EPL club

Anyone know why Scout hasn't shown his commitment yet, or are they just that slow? Great fill for a position of need. GBO and Coach bUTch Jones!

Talked to one of his teachers last night. I go to church with her, and she said that his grades would be fine, (She's an Alabama fan btw) and he would be a Vol.

So he didn't have and offer from Bama or Auburn? Either way I'm excited to see him is a Vols uniform. Here's a quote:"Jackson linebacker Gavin Bryant was tired of waiting on Alabama and Auburn.

The three-star senior committed to Tennessee early Monday afternoon after a weekend trip to Knoxville. He said neither Alabama nor Auburn had extended a committable offer."

What The hell are you guys talking about? I didn't bash him for being a vols fan, its The opposite I think its cool he is a vols fan in England. He said that he didn't really like soccer and all I said was that it is hard to believe that a british man doesn't like soccer being that it is The most populat sport in The world. So being an American and finding it odd that a british man likes American football more is totally uncalled for compared to some of The stuff thaT people put on volnation. Right. some of u guys make people feel like complete s%%t when they spell a word wrong.

"If I can't play for Alabama or Auburn, then I'll just play against them."

This quote from Gavin says it all. He got tired of waiting, we offered, he accepted. Nice.
