Among the many nice notes on Cuonzo by ESPN2 during his game against Florida was a quote by Keady: "I don't like to put labels on any of my players, but in 50 years of coaching, he's the best leader I've ever had."

Good leader, Good recruiter, Good basketball I.Q., Hard Worker, and Good person, I think U.T. basketball is in good hands. Just remember, patience, in this case, is a virtue.

I thought that was a pretty big quote by Keady. That's not a generic quote like "Cuonzo has all the abilities to be a good coach" or "I know Cuonzo will do a good job". That's something very specific mentioning about someone.

My favorite quote from Keady was
If you don't want to play defense, I'll sign the papers to release you.

I think maybe Cuonzo sent that message this week.
Sure looked like a different team.
Hope it becomes the norm.

Patience is not a behavior practiced well in these parts. Just sayin. You know who you are.

I am excited. There will still be rough days, but I am confident we have a really good basketball coach.

Did anyone else read about Tony White addressing the team?

Yes. I really would love to see that if it there was video of it but I am sure it was in private. From a quote I read from a player it sounded like TonyW got after them pretty hard. He was my childhood hero. Memories of that 50plus pt night are dancing in my head!

Good game performance, but only one game. Let's not annoint anyone as the answer until we get a larger sample size.

I agree. Conversely, we shouldn't throw him under the bus after every loss.

I love watching the Vols play, but I'm anxious for the season to be over so we can see what Martin has done in his first year. GO VOLS!

That says it all, right there!! :good!:

If you not gonna take Keady's word for it, then there is no hope for you.

Rock on, CCM!!

How could anyone doubt the word of such a storied coach. He has more final fours than Wooden, won more games than Pat Summitt, and has a shelve full of NC trophies. You people are delusional. LMAO

How long did you coach college basketball?

I didn't realize the coach you worship had accomplished any of that.

The coach we had advanced just as far in the NCAA tournament as Keady and it didn't take him 25 years to do it. If Keady was such a great coach why did Purdue let him get away. LMAO

Because he retired?

Even if you don't think Keady is a good coach, it's a pretty good sign when the man (who has been coaching for 50 years and has put a ton of his former players/asst. coaches to head coaching positions in college) says that your coach is the best leader he has ever had.

Purdue "let him get away" because he had been there forever, and no longer wanted to get it done on the recruiting trail, because he wanted to spend time with his terminally ill wife. Once she passed away, he found himself looking for a new challenge, and Steve Lavin smartly gave him a job. I would like to see Bruce Pearl's 7 S.E.C. coach of the year awards and 6 NCAA coach of the year awards.
