General Neyland rolled over tonight.

First time Max has looked shaky.

I don’t like gimmicky black out games for this reason. Especially after a bye. Too much variation from the norm.
So the whole week of prep was changed because we wore black?
What was the "norm" that got changed?
How did the color the fans wore actually effect the kicking game?
Did the black on the jersey cause Nimrod to drop an TD that hit him in the hands?

What are you talking about? He missed 2 out of 3 against bama. He's choking in big games when there is pressure. That's an issue. We aren't going to be able to leave 6-9 points on the field in the Georgia game or CFP if we make it.
All the Volly sunshines wants to believe life is a movie and all the kicker really needs is a pep talk from a crusty old Nick and the issue will all fade away into a rainbow.

Special Teams has been a bit shakey most of the year. Missed FGs, missed containment on some punts. Bobbled Fair catches. Etc. CJH needs to light a fire under coach Ekeler.

2 straight games for Gilbert has struggled. Hopefully he doesn't have a case of the yips. I will say the last FG miss wasn't entirely his fault as it was a bad snap and timing was messed up. Regardless, we have got to clean it up.

No it absolutely was not the first time. He was 1-3 on field goals against Bama and toward the end of the game I was fully prepared for that to bite us in the butt.

Could say the same about 8 of the games in 98. Just win baby
I feel like we’re actually kind of similar to the 2001 team right now. Maybe not talent wise, but we didn’t exactly blow many people out that year . We dropped one to a team we shouldn’t have (UGA), and we relied on the defense and running game. Sampson is our workhorse, just like Stephens.

Also: Second year QB beating both Fla and Bama.

You’re leaving out the part that those were 50+ yarders he missed against Bama.
I could get on board with that if they were even close. These last several kicks have not barely missed, they have been out of the neighborhood.

Oh I agree that he was terrible against Kentucky. There’s no denying that. I just felt like it was uncharacteristic. But even if it was it could be a problem for the rest of the season since place kicking is such a mental activity. Your guess is as good as mine on how good he is moving forward
