I'm back to report on my Texas game experience!
Geno Smith is incredible. No other words for him. Electrifying to watch. Credit to David Ash of Texas as well, though. The Longhorns found a QB. They're probably a year or two off, but they'll be back sooner than later.
The weather was overcast and about 65, but for walking around, it was a nice day.
Some thoughts on:
Tailgating- overall, I was very impressed. However, Tennessee tailgating is a lot more confined. Austin is an awesome city, but tailgating is too scattered.
Apples and oranges.
Atmosphere- it was awesome, not gonna lie. The place was loud as hell. However, many fans said it was the loudest game they've been to there, but it was a slightly above average Neyland Stadium noise level to me. Acoustics prevent their stadium from trapping in noise.
I went to their Longhorn Stampede, which is their newly formed answer to the Vol Walk. It's got potential, but since nobody really knows about it, the Vol Walk kills it.
I was impressed, and they have a great atmosphere. However, I mean it when I say it, I wouldn't trade being a Vol fan for anything. Sometimes I lose track of why, but then I see all the great things that make Tennessee special, even in bad times.
