I think the two biggest pieces of getting a Strong 2025 class will be 1. landing George McIntyre. And 2 a strong performance by the vols and Nico this year to build momentum and hype.

George McIntyre really seems like someone you want to build a class around. And I think it would be huge to have another five star QB committed in the 2025 class just that way play makers in the 2025 class will expect to have good quarterback play the whole time they are on rocky top. And I think a few strong years by Nico and this offense might be able to set you up in recruiting to where talent wise you can compete with the Georgias and Bama’s of the world more consistently. That doesn’t mean we can’t already in the next 2 years however we still have a rather large talent gap that can likely be somewhat bridged over if Nico ends up being a generational talent.

Really excited about a lot of the in state kids for 2025 Cameron sparks stands out on tape to me but I also hope if we keep pulling in top QB’s we can get more 5 star play markers. Suprised auburn doesn’t really have much of a QB and already has 2. 5 ⭐️ WR’s.

Anyways I just wanted to give my thoughts on what it will take to bring in a great 2025 class and keep improving in recruiting and closing the talent gap. And even if we don’t get Macintyre I’d be interested to see how we build this team going forward.

Let me know who you’re excited about in the 2025 cycle.

I’ve seen it before but I couldn’t find it. This was more about me thinking he’s the key to the 2025 class. Just thought it was appropriate on signing day. My apologies.
I think clearly getting George on board early will be a catalyst for the building blocks in this class. I’m sure a lot of people feel like I do recruiting thing just seems so lukewarm and not the end all be all in college football anymore. Now I know the top team is still recruiting at the top but it will be interesting to see how many of those guys transfer out once they are not able to play. And maybe it’s just me but there sure seem to be a lot of elite quarterbacks around these days. 🤷

The way I view it is recruiting is still how you build the bulk of your roster. But the fact is now you’re recruiting not only highschool kids but your own roster and the portal. I think you use the portal to re recruit the depth it takes from you and to replace areas where your younger guys are not quite ready to get it done Or where you don’t have enough depth like we didn’t at TE. I think national championships are still built on strong HS classes but the portal can’t be neglected either.

Don’t apologize for starting a new thread. I don’t want to comb through the other threads so thanks for your comments.

I agree with you, too.

I mostly agree but I think there could be a serious monkey wrench in the GMac recruitment. Madden Iamaleava. If he keeps progressing, he may end up being better than GMac. Now, the thing with GMac is I think he is an important piece when it comes to the instate talent of 2025.

Now not saying it would happen but. What happens if Madden keeps progressing and becomes as good or better than GMac? And he wants in this class? Do you take him without question knowing that means GMac goes to Bama probably? And possibly risking missing out on the states top talent?

What if you decided to take GMac and not Madden? Would that possibly affect Nico in some way? Not saying it would but could he get upset if the staff spurns his brother? Tough decisions IMO.

Fundamentally I agree. Not long ago…. Almost EVERYTHING depended on NSD but now it’s managing a roster year round. I’d still be fine with a top 5 class though 😂

I've watched him play. I don't see it. He may be all that but there's a reason he was part of Brentwood Academy having their worst season in school history. That does not happen if you're an elite QB IMO.

I just don't know about George...I trust Heupel, so if he really wants the kid I hope we get him...I just have really strong Hunter Johnson vibes with him.

I'm not going to say anything more about it.
Tbh I have to sit down and watch more of his film but his highlights looks amazing in terms of mobility and awareness with accuracy and touch. I think even if he doesn’t pan out having him committed will be a key peace of getting other players in the 2025 class. I really like what I see from merklinger too just in terms of touch and accuracy. So I think between nico, Jake and George one definitely has to be something special and much like clemsons run with boyd, Watson and Laurence I wouldn’t be surprised if we have something special in all 3.

Does this staff go after GM or Nico little brother who most likely will be a 5star qb as well.

Not a BA fan, but hope their defense is better next season, or GMAC might suffer multiple injuries.

Maybe the staff can figure out a way to get both Madden and McIntire.

Could be...but there is something to be said for being a "gamer"...I hope if Heup wants him, that he gets him and the kid is awesome.

I remember a time, not that long ago, when a team would sign 2 top quarterbacks, who would compete for the starting job during Spring and Fall practice. Ah, the good old days.
I think what they are going to have to do now is to get one top QB that you really believe in, and then really search hard for a diamond in the rough type as the 2nd in a class that you think you can work on and polish into being a good QB without causing a stressful relationship with your #1.

Offer both. Take both if they both want in. If Madden chooses elsewhere, Nico can’t get mad. But I wouldn’t choose between them.

GMac is supposedly choosing in the next month, so we’ll know by February if he’s in the boat. Tennessee has gone all out to land him. If he commits, you keep recruiting Madden. If he doesn’t commit, you keep recruiting Madden.

From what I’ve seen, I like Madden better as a prospect, but as you allude, GMac could lead to more instate recruiting success.
