George McIntyre Brentwood Academy/ getting a strong 2025 class

Offer both. Take both if they both want in. If Madden chooses elsewhere, Nico can’t get mad. But I wouldn’t choose between them.

GMac is supposedly choosing in the next month, so we’ll know by February if he’s in the boat. Tennessee has gone all out to land him. If he commits, you keep recruiting Madden. If he doesn’t commit, you keep recruiting Madden.

From what I’ve seen, I like Madden better as a prospect, but as you allude, GMac could lead to more instate recruiting success.
Can’t go wrong with either guy IMO. It would be awesome to land both. Like I have said, what a great problem to have.

I've watched him play. I don't see it. He may be all that but there's a reason he was part of Brentwood Academy having their worst season in school history. That does not happen if you're an elite QB IMO.
I don't know the numbers, but I seem to remember he has thrown a lot of ints this year. Ints kill your offense and it is difficult to win games in any league.

I mostly agree but I think there could be a serious monkey wrench in the GMac recruitment. Madden Iamaleava. If he keeps progressing, he may end up being better than GMac. Now, the thing with GMac is I think he is an important piece when it comes to the instate talent of 2025.

Now not saying it would happen but. What happens if Madden keeps progressing and becomes as good or better than GMac? And he wants in this class? Do you take him without question knowing that means GMac goes to Bama probably? And possibly risking missing out on the states top talent?

What if you decided to take GMac and not Madden? Would that possibly affect Nico in some way? Not saying it would but could he get upset if the staff spurns his brother? Tough decisions IMO.
I see what you mean. My response is that the qb is the heart of the team.

My opinion is that you always take the top qb regardless of the waves that may or may not trickle in.
If Madden is without doubt a better qb at the moment of signing, take him. If they are on equal footing
I take Mac. With Bama signing the #1 qb this year, Madden or Mac may not want to go to Bama.

I think we should recruit both. If one commits, accept it and continue recruiting the other. If we get both, play them both unless one is a clear choice. If one is unwilling to compete, he is not the guy. QBs must have the confidence to stay the course. I think both should get game time, because we know that some practice kings do not get it done in games and some guys turn on the light in games after not practicing at their best. We are fortunate to have a coach who truly knows how to play and teach that position at the highest level.

I think the two biggest pieces of getting a Strong 2025 class will be 1. landing George McIntyre. And 2 a strong performance by the vols and Nico this year to build momentum and hype.

George McIntyre really seems like someone you want to build a class around.
The issue: Is McIntyre willing to sit for 2 years watching Nico lead the team? If I were him, I would not. I would probably go to a second tier school with a decent OL where I could start year one and if Tennessee was my dream school, transfer in year 2, redshirt while learning the system, and be ready to take over after Nico is drafted.

It’s been Tennessee and Alabama and Alabama has a 5 ⭐️ QB Julian sayin or something who’s one of the top QB’s for the class of 2024. He’d only have to sit one year behind Nico if Nico is good because GMAC is class of 25 Nico was class of 23.

And again that’s assuming he could beat out merklinger or that merklinger transfers. Which is a big if I actually think merklinger has a shot at being the best of the 3 we are talking about if he develops more. But the reasoning is he’s down to his top 3 schools and bama has more competition infront of him than we do and LSU is about to land the #1 QB in that class.

The way I view it is recruiting is still how you build the bulk of your roster. But the fact is now you’re recruiting not only highschool kids but your own roster and the portal. I think you use the portal to re recruit the depth it takes from you and to replace areas where your younger guys are not quite ready to get it done Or where you don’t have enough depth like we didn’t at TE. I think national championships are still built on strong HS classes but the portal can’t be neglected either.
100%! Year over year consistent HS recruiting is how you get to a consistent on the field higher level...but it certainly doesn't hurt to rent a position of need for a couple of years. I also think that JH seems to have better transparency than predecessors. If the experience on campus and opportunity to play matches what coaches tell them on recruiting visits and there's consistent transparent evaluation of where they are at when on campus, I think it leads to less portal losses...and probably better HS recruiting b/c players on the team, for sure, tell recruits about their own experience.

That’s cowardly imo. That means you are a diva and are scared of real competition. Do you honestly think most of these big time HS QBs expect to start as freshman? Look at Arch Manning. He isn’t gonna start this year.

But you’re not him

McIntyre can literally go most anywhere he wants. As of now, our QB room is pretty light, and I think that's on purpose by JH. If JH stacks up Nico and McIntyre and they pan out on the foundation of Hooker, we'll be on our way...much of the rest will take care of itself. On another note, I still can't hear the McIntyre name without thinking of Vandy's 1982 season w/ Whit Taylor from Shelbyville @ QB beating the Vols.

And there are people who know Merk who say he will come in and compete for the starting job day 1. I have never watched the kid but it will be nice to have a QB room full of SEC caliber QB’S.

Ty Simpson loves it at Alabama and has progressed. Would George and Ty be roommates possibly?
