George Quarles

It's really surprised me over the years that there hasn't been one FBS program to offer him a shot at being a position coach or something. I've always wondered over the years if Fulmer reached out to Quarles and offered him a job? I know that George has said in the past, that he really likes being the coach of the Rebels and his family couldn't see them living anywhere else. It's just hard to believe with his numbers that some FBS program hasn't offered him through the years. Thoughts?

He's a good coach but people conveniently ignore that Maryville's by far the best public school job in the state. If he coached elsewhere he'd be successful, but no one would know his name.

They do not offer athletic scholarships at MC. Get your facts straight. Also, I didn't blast their academics.

They don't call them athletic scholarships but they do offer the athletes scholarships akin to academic. Plus they only have one loss. Plus had kids to graduate from there.

He turned down the Furman head coaching job several years ago. He had an interview as tight end coach the year UT hired Dave Clawson as OC. I don't think he had much interest in that position, however.

Can't say that I blame him. It would be nice for him to get a shot somewhere big. I think he would be a awesome addition to Butch's staff! There's no doubt, that he's paid his dues in high school football.
