Can you imagine if Zo would have been able to get him? Just goes to show you that the amount of stars by your name doesn't mean all that much.
Porter was a consensus Top 50 player...

Whoops, lol... I hadn't refreshed my page in a while. MC beat me to it by a longshot.

Yeah I know I missed on that one. I thought at one time he was ranked way lower than that.

Oh wow, my bad I thought he was in the 90's or borderline 100's. Still though, he was a 4 star and will be a lottery pick this year ahead of a lot of the 5 stars in his class.

You're right, you're not high, promise.

When Zo took over at UT Porter received a lot of attention because Zo recruited him at Missouri State and many thought we may have a good shot at him. At that time he was floating around 100 ranking on most sites, shortly after March though he shot up the rankings and ended up a consensus top 50 player.

On a related note, in May of 2010 the only offer Porter had from some Head Coach of Missouri State Cuonzo Martin...looks good for Martin's ability to find talent before others huh?

I thought so, I didn't know he made the jump. MC has never been wrong since he joined VN, so I figured I was wrong lol.

Yeah, I agree. Porter could've easily been a 5 star, a lot of folks thought he was underrated.

He didn't play AAU, that was the reasoning for his low ranking abs big time blow up. He relied on his high school season and a few camps to do the talking, didn't play AAU.

I wasn't wrong, the kid was ranked 37th. He didn't play AAu ball which is why it took him a while to climb the rankings. Reggie Rankin is sorta the guy that blew the lid off of him in the national recruiting scene.

Pastner was in the mix for this kid up until the end, so I followed him pretty closely. It was pretty apparent that the kid was a huge high-major prospect, so I never really got the "sleeper" status for him. I guess that besides Mizzou, GTown and Memphis not a lot of people were paying attention to the kid.

This is going to be a great test of Martin's ability to set up a game plan against a solid zone defense.

It'll be close but i see Georgetown edge this one out. Taking IU to overtime is no easy task and they did it.

Really looking forward to this game..wish I could go. Anyone think Gtown is going to start 4 forwards like in the UCLA game. Starks is looking really good...golden is gonna have to play really well

Georgetown is a lot better than Tennessee right now. Hopefully this game helps down the stretch but I think the Hoyas pull away in the second half. Will be fun either way.
