UGA is ranked 19th. Chris Low has them #5 in the SEC power rankings (behind ALA, LSU, ARK, USC). ESPN named them a dark horse for a BCS bowl game.

Am I wrong to think they are overrated?

I see...
Boise St - L
USC - L

and 2 - 3 losses out of
Miss St.
Tenn.
Fla.
Aub.
GT

I'm thinking 4-5 losses, and Richt is extremely lucky this year considering he doesn't have to play ALA, LSU, and Ark or he would be gone after this season.

They are a dark horse, because they can just as easily fall apart at the seams.

Lol! You guys are going to be death of a certain "insider" and his little buddies on here. They should win the east but with the rest of the east being down and their schedule, but could just as easily fall apart.

I see no reason why they should be favored over South Carolina.

Honestly, this. I think Georgia's going to win the East, but I'm definitely starting to think there's a huge boom/bust quotient with this team. I could see them going 10-2 or 11-1 just as easily as I could 7-5. They've underachieved for three years in a row and Richt's job is on the line so I think you'll see a higher possibility of the former rather than the latter, but it's tough to predict UGA.

As good as Crowell might be, I simply don't see how UGA can sustain the loss of AJ Green and every back who's ever had real live touches.

We saw last year how well Georgia did sans AJ Green.

The depth they have at tailback is comprised of converted linebackers.

I do not have much faith in Georgia this year, nor do I understand the hype.

That is because they wont.

No Green, no king, no W.

It will come down to the annual UF-USCe match up.

I hope you are right. Many are afraid of UGA this year. I honestly feel like this is their UT 08 season. I will eat crow if I am wrong, but I feel awfully confident in saying that they will lose 4-6 games.

I have an awful hard time seeing UGA win the East.

Agreed and I agree with the OP. This could be the Dream Teams worst nightmare. Look at what AJ did in the preseason and you have what you need to know why they sucked before getting him back last year. Their running back situation could be their undoing, IMO.

I would take it a step further and virtually guarantee that it will be their undoing.

Agreed. SC may not win the east, but I don't see any way in hell UGA wins it, especially with their RB and OL issues.

0-2 will be painful start for them.

It's either South Carolina or Florida.

Everyone in the division has question marks, but South Carolina has the fewest/least significant question marks.

I think Florida's defense will be very good. If they can get their offense together, they'll be a contender. Big if though.

Too many question marks in Athens and Knoxville for me to see UGA or UT being a serious threat this year.

I just don't trust Florida yet. Too many questions, especially on offense. They'll have big improvements in the passing game, but the schedule does them few favors.

Those converted LB's were 5 Star RB's out of HS that played their True Freshman year.

Their O-Line is questionable at best. They are very thin at RB. I was never THAT impressed with Crowell, and he has been injured most of camp. They have no proven receivers. Murray was good last year when he had AJ to throw to, but he was mediocre without him. The defense should be good and better than last year's, but they aren't overwhelming.

Having said that, I could also see them winning 10 games, just because their schedule sets up so perfectly.

They will lose to every good defense they play. I'm not sure they will encounter very many so that bodes well for them.

The SEC east is down, thinking about a possible Alabama/Georgia SECCG right now is like getting hit with a horse tranquilizer
