Georgia Game The Good, The Bad, The UGLY!

Heres's my summary...

Defense--- skilled but requires the offense to keep them off the field at times to get a blow. The LB's are doing amazing things.

Offense--- Workey, Hurd, Wolf and North are this offense! They all need to be on the field.

Coaching--- I think we all agree there are lapses in judgement as we should not be running the ball when we have folks open in the flats that have gotte 5-7 (or more) yards per quick strike. I'm not advocating this is what you win with but it definitely opens the running game and make the edge rusher think twice!!

We are going to destroy florida! I have a gentlemens bet with two UF buds about who buys beer after the game. Unfortunately I have been buying beer at EVERY game since I met those bastards in 2004! It's going to change this year. The half barrell and copper kettle will know I have been there next week!!!

UT OC gave it away

The rest gutted it out and played well enough to earn a big victory

The OC plays within Jones gameplan and O system. You can't blame him without significant splash back on Jones.

The playcalling right now is significantly limited by the OL. They played a little better today but still not "good".

I was pretty rough on Jones and the assistants earlier in the year... but they deserve a little time to get things ironed out with 4 or 5 Fr starting on O. Then you have to consider the competition. UGA is one of the 3 most talented teams in the SEC. The coaching is mediocre at best... but they're loaded.

Forgot Pig. He's made some good plays and so has Malone.

Butch card? That's idiotic homie. Butch is turning this ship around.

No these recruits are turning it around. And most would have came to tennessee even if butch weren't here. They grew up watching tennessee. Butch was just right place right time with these recruits. And sure you can blame coach jake but it's still butchs team. At some point you have to see this. These stupid just being young excuses is the same bs I heard when Dooley was here. If we had hired Gus we would be a ten win team this year. In football coaching and qb play mean everything. We have a hell of a qb. So the problem must be coaching

I say I am so sick of this and I actually thought we would win. For whatever reason I do not have a good feeling about next week, hope I am dead freaking wrong.

No moral victory here. So many opportunities to take the lead, and we choked and squandered prime field position time and again. Just a depressing game.

It was a typical Tn gm. We had our chance to win and shot ourselves in the foot with costly turnovers. I dont know how we do it but we find a way to lose every time in these close sec gms.

The Good:

1. Peterman isn't dead
2. Worley isn't dead
3. Hurd isn't hurt
4. Worley played like a Heisman candidate
5. Hurd ran very well, had tons of YAC
6. Croom/WRs had good catches
7. Wolf looked so good he might have made a difference at OK
8. Our defense is the best in the SEC East

The Bad:

1. The O-Line's protection of Worley/Peterman
2. Hutson Mason...yeah.

The Ugly:

1. Justin Worley's elbow contusion
2. Peterman's fumble/Hurd's fumble - I don't blame them too much, but fumbles killed us
3. Bajakian's playcalling with Peterman (especially after the first drive, hence #1 on the good)
4. Bobo's playcalling the entire game

Sure to be otherwise unmentioned player of the game:

The guy who gave Worley an elbow contusion

I just don't see young Mr. Peterman able to throw on rhythm/timing. Good kid, he just does not have "IT" whatever it is a QB has to have as a clock in his head.

This staff is perfect off the field. The systems and player development are good if not great. When they get a few more big bodies and some experience I have no doubt this will be an 8-9 win program every year.

But I have serious questions about this staff's game management, particularly on offense. The gameplans aren't the problem, it's their ability to call plays. They are either great or awful, nothing in between.

We weren't the better team today obviously, but we outplayed UGA. Worley picked them apart in the 1st and 4th quarters. In the 2nd and 3rd they either ran it or were throwing it deep to the outside. Didn't attack the middle of the field until too late. Worley getting hurt was coaches fault for stupid play calling. And Peterman should never see the field again. He has no perception or awareness of time or pressure in the pocket. Can't coach that.

I like this staff, but Butch may need a new coordinator if he ever wants to win championships in this league.

Gotta agree with you! I love pig but when you have a pressing defense you need to loosen it up a bit before pig gets his yards. All good though. The future is night!

My only concern right now for 2015 is QB!!!
Anyone else agree?

I just completely disagree with your analysis. Go ahead and give up on the coach pulling in 5 star DTs though.

I will still be the biggest ut fan there is I just don't think this " best coaching staff in the country" is the answer. Hope I'm wrong. This is one time I would love to eat crow

This game is not on Petermen, if you recall in the first half we scored the first two and then Punted the next Four possessions. This is where I am, at the point where I must question some of the play calling. I think Wolf could have been more of a factor and where in the world was North?? It was as if he was not on the field until late in the game, was it due to play calling??

Fine with me to lay some blame on CBJ, after all it is his system. And there are personnel limitations.

But not immediately attacking the UGA secondary as soon as their top player exits the game is just dumbfounding. And I would like to believe that the idiot responsible is the OC, not the HC.

You think butch jones is the only reason Khalil is coming to tennessee? Come on man! Any coach with the exception of Dooley could have gotten all these legacies. Just because butch is a better coach and recruiter than Dooley doesn't make him a good coach.

It is just this simple. UT Vol team 118 is good enough to play and win against most teams. We however are not good enough for our offense to gift the defense a TD with a turnover. So far in 2014 the games we've won, we did not do that, the games we have lost we have done that. Its not what teams are doing to us, it is what we are doing to us, we've got to get better, but these things happen with freshmen.

I was at this game and these are my observations on Nathan Peterman.

1) he doesn't keep his head on a swivel
2) he has absolutely no pocket presence, none.
3) he honestly may be the worst quarterback I have ever seen play college football.
4) the dawg fans were literally laughing about how bad he was
5) this line better manage to keep worley safe, if Nathan Peterman has to lead us through the season we are screwed and that's putting it lightly.

I am very happy with this teams progress. With all the freshman we play and the new Oline, we shouldn't be able to play with UGA. Two fumbles on handoffs should never happen, and Gurley is fantastic. Be patient, we are on our way back. In fact, I think we will be dominate by 2016, and this team will be remembered for playing their a**es off and for starting this new era.

Edit: We also completely shut down their passing game.

:banghead2: Got to start winning some SEC games guys. This one was very winnable on the road. GA. plays a patsy schedule and are not that good. End zone call leaves me shaking my head. I agree with another poster, Got to do a QB sneak to get another yard or two.I hope Butch does not let Bajakian pink slip them both. Bajakian is just plain awful. Defense is looking better every week. When Butch first came to UT, he said you have to run the ball and play defense to win in the SEC. He's getting the D right but the O play calling sucks!

Too many missed opportunity's.....suspect play calling ..trying to throw down field to much...

We need a back to throw a short 3 to 5 yd pass out backfield...more screens... At times play calling looked alright but a lot times bad play calling.. Something needs to be done about play calling within the 10 yard line... Geez horrible...

Hurd was over 100 yards. Most since J. Lewis.
