Georgia has no blueprint to stop our offense

This thread is obviously a counter to the one from last week where folks were saying that Missouri was going to win because UGA showed them the blueprint of how to stop our offense.

There is no blueprint, never was. Each game, each week, against the teams is different. If we do end up with a second chance at UGA, I can guarantee the game will more than likely not look like the first game - they never do and the losing team typically has the advantage.

No one can stop this offense if we don’t stop ourselves. Over throws, penalties and missed opportunities beat us at Georgia. I hope we see them again. Hopefully can have as many fans present as they do next time around!
That and a semi-pro team full of NFL caliber defenders...

Yes, the blueprint is to load up with up with War Daddies on D and coach them up. Very few teams can.

Umm, Georgia drew up the blueprint last Saturday. At least we know what’s coming from their defense if we play them again.
Unless they come up with new wrinkles for next game. They wont play us the same way again

The math says it's going to be a close rematch. As long as our lads show up.

The final score in Athens was 27-13. Let's walk that forward to Atlanta.

(a) Georgia could have played a higher-risk game in the second half and scored more points. It is true. We have to acknowledge it. Let's give them, say, 14 extra for staying aggressive to the very end. So instead of 27-13, call it 41-13.

(b) The crowd in Samford stadium was a potent force that cost us dearly. If we had not gotten drive-killing procedural penalties 8 different times, we would probably have scored twice more in the game. Moving it from 41-13 to, say, 41-27.

(c) If our lads were on their A-game, if Hendon had taken just a bit of energy off of two key downfield strikes, both would have been caught for easy runs into the end zone. Add two more scores for the good guys: 41-27 becomes 41-41.

Yep, that's right. On a neutral field, with our lads playing well, this is anyone's re-match to win.

But...there's a secret weapon in our favor: adjustments.

(d) We have the better Xs and Os coaching staff. We also have the greater motivation to adjust how we play them, having lost the first go-round (they will be more willing to hold mostly what they have, having won the first round). So our Xs and Os tweaks will probably be more significant than the Dawgs'. Call it a touchdown, if not two. That flips the script: 48-41 Vols (or 55-41).

That's how the math breaks it down.

WGWTFA.

Go Vols!

Walk in TD? No sir

There was never that. Even on the overthrows, Hyatt and McCoy both had a step, but those defenders were right there behind them. They catch it they get tackled.

UGAs DBs are physical AND fast.
Lassiter seems like the "weak link", But he's still pretty good.

However,
it's hard to be a team a twice in the same season
Bro we couldn't have watched the same plays. You're talking like the UGA secondary all run 4 flat. If they were that fast they wouldn't be a step or 2 behind. It would be more like step for step, prime example was the Ringo Int. That was great defense but that's not one of the 4 plays I'm talking about. Idk if you ever played WR or DB but on every level its "if we even I'm leaving". That means once u stack him it's over. The only way the DB makes the tackle on any of those plays is if he throws a jump ball. 1st quarter Hyatt would have walked in with a better throw. Dude is not tracking down a 4.3 guy when he already has 2-3 steps on him in full stride. Another throw was the Bru over throw. The DB was nearly out of the picture he ain't catching him to make that tackle. He had Ced standing wide open for 10 yards and he is already in the end zone, it was just a missed read. The last one was the Fant overthrow. Fant had already out leveraged his guy and he running down the sidelines wide open. Wether he scores or not is strictly opinion on this play, but at the very least he is going to be deep in the RedZone.

CJH has his work cut out for him incorporating Tillman back into the lineup effectively.
Tillman will be a difference maker but CJH will have to change some schemes.
Hiding Hyatt yesterday indicates CJH will have an answer.

I wouldn't necessarily say that. GA has the corners to cover our Receiver's. Their DB's grade out as best in the country in coverage. Yea Hooker missed a few throws but most of the game the throws were under 10 yards. Our WR's didn't get open much over 10 yds. It sucked but it's the truth. Penalties did kill us too and set up longer 1st down distances. Hooker's sacks were from holding the ball too long, but also because he didn't have any open WR's.

Mizzou doesn’t have anywhere near the talent Georgia does. They tried to play man and our guys are just better and faster. Coaching does make a difference but a big part of it is having the best players.

Yeah, not on paper, but on the field, they were #13 in the nation on defense....so, perhaps Huepel is working on some wrinkles and addressing what UGA did to us in case we get another shot....

I don't know why this is so hard for people to understand. To do what UGA did to us: 1) you have to have the players and 2) you have to deploy them appropriately and they have to execute. UGA did both. Bama has the players, but they didn't deploy them appropriately or execute. Mizzou doesn't even have the players, especially on the back end. They never had a chance against the Big Orange O.

I am a little concerned about Tillman. Yesterday CJH mentioned that Tillman's ankle was good to go but prior to the game they decided that he needs to sit this one out. It will be interesting to see if he is on the field next week.

Kirby did have a good game plan. They took away the outside and dared us to go over the middle. WHEN we play them again we will have to use the middle more.
The middle and outlet passes into the flat.
A couple of draws wouldn't hurt.

Some speed sweep misdirection would help too.

Looking forward to the rematch

He warmed up, but they held him out as a precautionary due to wet field is what the Vol Network radio was saying.

I was aware that they held him out for precautionary reasons, gut tells me he is not up to full speed.

They dont need a blue print, they have the players.

Tillman has nothing to prove. He has served TN well. He is a draft pick so he needs to keep his eyes on big picture. Only if he is 100% should he play. Maybe in time for the playoffs if we get in. I want to see him again on the field but not if the meant another injury hurt his NFL career or worse

We lost because we didn’t control the game early. Way too many pre-snap penalties. All this Georgia love is way over-hyped…imho. I’m not saying they aren’t really good, they are. I’m just saying that a rematch doesn't mean the same results. They showed out in front of a very loud stadium and they used that advantage. Good for them, we would have done the same. We showed a lack of discipline in that game, but that’s part of it. They are the team to beat and I hope we get another shot at them. Winning in a playoff would be 10xs sweeter than beating them in the regular season. GBO!

The key to beating Georgia is coming away with more than 13 points after 5 trips to the red zone. We wasted so many opportunities in that game. Georgia looked like Georgia and Tennessee didn’t look like Tennessee.
