Georgia in '09?

Okla State is favored in the game against UGA. Anyone else a little surprised about that? I just find it a little surprising that UGA is now actually an underdog.

UGA...my least favorite topic...and if you lived in my area...you would know why. How a school with a classy coach can have such morons for fans is beyond me. Here is my take on their schedule.

Definite losses - Florida

Probable Losses - LSU

Possible Losses - UT, Ok. State, Ark. (never thought I would see the day I would be pulling for Petrino), USC lite, and GT.

I expect them to go 8-4 in all honesty...but would love to see them go 7-5 or worse. I am SO sick of hearing crap from the "Dawg nation."

you and me both man. So glad I'm in Knoxville right now

I'm not really suprised no. The media wagon is jumping all over OK St this year. Picking them over a GA team who lost their top 2 offensive weapons is not a far stretch in my mind. Also, the game is at OK St. I don't know the actual line, but I'm going to guess its less than a touchdown.

Another thing to add to the OK St game is that UGA isn't used to traveling very far. Especially for their 1st game.

Oklahoma State will be the 2nd best offense UGA has to face this year. I'm not at all surprised that UGA is the underdog.

Everyone here in Athens, especially sports talk radio, seem to think that the Dawgs are going to have an easy time playing Ok-State and I honestly don't see that being true. I believe that UGA can beat the Pokies but it seems that Ok-State has the advantage of being at home in a new stadium. Georgia's got to cross over into a different time zone and into a hostile environment against a team that, imo, has something to prove. Being around all these Georgia fans 24/7/365, they were a sure bet to beat Alabama, Florida, and Tech last year. They have the same attitude against OSU this year as they did for those teams last year.

True Story: In 2007 my Dad and me went to the UGA game in Knox-Vegas and sat in the Away section two rows in front of the JumboTron. All week at work my friends were so confident that Goergia was going to win and I had to hear it all. Before the game we all ate together and my friends wanted to get together after the game to watch the LSU-Fla game. Needless to say, they left in the middle of the 3rd QTR and I never heard from them for a couple of days.

Anyways, Georgia def. wont beat Florida this year, and most likely imo wont beat OKState or LSU and could lose another (hopefully UT). They weren't great last year (a halfway decent Tenn. offense could have beat them) and lost their "star" players in Stafford and Moreno, who weren't really all that great to begin with.

There are a bunch of reasons UGA might lose, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say going from the Eastern to Central time zone won't induce a mass case of jet lag.

Not saying that we might not have a puncher's chance against them, but the talent gap is hard to deny. There just aren't very many places on the field where we are better than UGA right now.

I understand your comment and in a way I somewhat agree with you but I know the 2007 and 2008 were different seasons, with different teams, and different coaches. But in '07 I sat in Neyland and I watch us put up a 28 spot in the first half on the dogs and won by 21 points. The game was simply worse than the score. In '08 Georgia is preseason #1 and supposely going to be playing in the Orange Bowl for the national championship. Two weeks after the Tide cleaned their clocks, we roll in having absolutely no momentum and no SEC wins, while their hopes of playing for SEC and national championship are still alive. Their best team (supposely) in recent years beat our worst team in recent years by just 12 points are their home field and Georgia's coaching staff I think was a lot more better than ours. Now in recent years Georgia has been consistently better than UT in recruiting and they put together a great class this year like we did and I expect to see some freshmen see some significant time this year. As fas as this week's game against Oklahoma State, the Dogs will have a tough opener with it being on the road and the fact that the expectations are high for the Cowboys, despite playing in the same division as Oklahoma, Texas, and Texas Tech. Last year the Cowboys probably could have played for a conference championship in any other conference except for the Big 12. This year Oklahoma State will be 2008 version of Texas Tech. I think that the Cowboys have the quarterback-runningback-wide receiver trio in the nation in Robinson, Hunter, and Bryant. I am really anxious to see how their offense is this year without Trooper and see how big of a part he played in calling the plays last year.

I was more suggesting that they actually do have to travel. Last year when they went to Arizona was the farthest that they had to go in years and this season they need to do it on the first game of the season. Its not a huge factor but it is a factor imo.

I think Arizona State was their opener last year. My hunch is that if they survive the OK State game, they will suffer a let down and slip up AT Arkansas 2 weeks later. Wow...just looking at their schedule...opening AT Ok State, hosting USC lite which is always a struggle for them for some reason (and USC will have an additional 2 days rest from playing tomorrow night), and then AT Arkansas. How AWESOME my life would be if they opened 1-2 or even better, 0-3. Oh to dream!

I agree, I don't really think travel will be the big factor here.
