Georgia is getting killed by South Carolina

:salute:
It is too late in the season for them to recover from losing Barbee.

Yes they are and have you noticed that Dawn, like Mulkey, Ginno and other great coaches (Pat, etc.) never stops coaching and trying to correct mistakes on the sidelines. This women is in the process of building a dynasty. This coming Monday they will be severely tested, I bet UCONN will be ready with their A+ game. Right now, without a doubt, they are the class of the SEC. Right now the SEC baton is squarely in USC's hands. It will be interesting to see if the Ladies can call up that LV pride and retake that baton. I will never count the LVs out.

GA is done. SC is fareal. Uconn will expose some holes but I think Dawn will fix em. If they play inside out and attack the basket, SC have a shot cos Uconn guards cant defend the drive.

So Carolina didn't even play particularly well. No Coates and 6 combined points for Welch and Wilson (who fouled out in 9 minutes) and only scored 58 points...and still win by 20+. On the plus side, Cuevas had another strong game, and Jatarie White is back. Will be interesting to see what they bring against UConn.

I thought both teams played absolutely ugly basketball. Much of the game was unwatchable. Another SEC game where neither team can shoot and nobody can break 60. The Vols should have no trouble with South Carolina.

Don't be fooled by all the non sense you are hearing about this game on ESPN...its all for ratings.

UConn is going to curb stomp South Carolina. Geno lives for these types of games and making a point. He'll make a big one. UConn by +20 pts.

What are you talking about?

You very clearly implied this beatdown was due in some part to Georgia's inability to recover from losing Barbee. It didn't stop them from giving Tennessee all they wanted in the second half in Knoxville. Or making Kentucky sweat until the end in Lexington. Yet they were completely noncompetitive, at home, in this game. Maybe the result was much more about South Carolina, than who Georgia didn't have.....

The Gamecocks beat UGA 58-35 on their home court where the Bulldogs had won the previous 18 games. UT hosted UGA in TBA and beat them 59-51. I think that was the game that Barbee got hurt in - anyway she scored a total of 3 points so she wasn't a factor in either game. And UT isn't known for being a prolific offensive team either. Why do you say that UT should have no trouble with USC at the CLA?

I am thinking South Carolina will stay with UConn; they definitely have the inside game to do so, and I don't see those guards backing down. If Cuevas can keep playing the way she is playing they could very well win this game, in Storrs. They have the depth. Those post players need to be in attack mode, if Stewart gets into foul trouble that will tilt things in SC's favor. It was nice seeing Jatarie back on the floor. They will have to fight it out next Monday.

Coates will be back for UConn...maybe she'll have a chip on her shoulder due to the suspension. She seems to have a chip on her shoulder anyways most games, lol.

Seeing Jatarie back in action was great. She was called into emergency duty so to speak with Coates out for the game and both Ibiam and Wilson being in foul trouble all game long. She had 5 pts, 7 boards, and 2 blocks in limited duty back from the flu. Hopefully she'll have a healthy rest of the season, because she's a very talented girl that can contribute to the team.

The light is turning on for Cuevas finally. She's understanding Coach Staley's system and learning to find middle ground between her wild colt exuberance and the pace and physicality of SEC play. Bianca has now led the Gamecocks in scoring for 2 consecutive games averaging 18.5 ppg, and has scored at a 11.6 ppg clip the last 5 games now, and can pick opposing PG's pockets in a blink of an eye. She's going to be a special player for USC during her career...

Despite all the fans here writing off Georgia, UT will have a hard enough time just winning in Athens.... winning at USC looks like mission impossible. South Carolina looks like the best SEC team in years....

I would not sell Dawn and her troops short. It is no doubt that USC will be the best team that UCONN has played this year. I believe that the advantage goes to Genno since the game is on his home floor, but I do not think USC is in fear of playing UCONN, where as, most teams are defeated before they take the floor against UCONN. However, no matter what we believe only history will present the true story. Go SEC!!!!!!:clapping:

I'd agree with all of this, but what were you talking about in that other post?

I agree the last time UConn took a lost on ESPN it was to a bad Stanford team and Geno doesn't know what its like/doesn't like not being number 1 in the country. This is a pride/ego thing and he will not allow his team to lost to SC and especially not 2 loses on TV in the same season. This will be the biggest game of Dawn Staley and her teams career and it doesn't help that she has to play it in Storrs. I agree they will lose by 20. I hope they win so that they can feel invincible and then lose to us and we then become a #1 seed again and possibly a top 3 team in the country with a UConn lost.

IMO a lot will depend on competent (equitable) reffing. And I just don't think that will happen in Stoors. Dawn had better have a deep bench and hope Uconn misses free throws.
I always pull for USC unless they are playing the Vols (see, you can say Lady Vols, and when one is speaking about UT teams, then Vols means ALL the men and women's teams), but the Cocks will have to bring their A game and have some luck to win up there. Now when they get a neutral site.... Just pulling for USC.

UCONN is trying to take back the top position...pressure UCONN....UCONN is expected to win by the fans and media...pressure UCONN....the game is on national television....pressure UCONN....no one expect South Carolina to win except South Carolina so there is no real pressure going in. This is also not the same team that beat Duke by one. There are freshman that have been in a mix since the season started that have started to jell. It may be a UCONN win....or maybe not. The real truth is, not the best team always wins....but the best team that night does.....could be anyone's night.

When has pressure ever impacted UConn.... The pressure Geno puts on them in practice has shown time and again to be more than any pressure they've faced by an opponent.

And do you think UConn is really that bothered they are #2 right now? This is the top program in Womens Basketball for the last 15 years and they know it. I seriously doubt it matters that much to Geno that a poll of 35 some coaches who mindlessly move teams up and down week to week has his team at #2 right now.

None of that means anything. Two teams will play on Monday, whomever executes best will win. Then, they will focus on whomever their next opponents are. Contrary to popular belief, this isn't as cerebral as much as people make it out to be.

Seriously, CockyGuy? Don't you have fans that can control games by their piercing minds? :p
