Guy who allows wedding to be scheduled on a Saturday in the fall = Former friend

My sister pulled this crap on GA/TN weekend a few years ago. My DirecTV dish made a mysterious appearance at her reception.

Yes if only it would have been a week later... He is not a big football fan (yea i think there are one or two of them in the south). But at least it is a night game so the wedding will be over... (might have to tailgate with my southern comfort during the wedding but it will be ok.

So, it's a "civil union" commitment ceremony? I hear Vermont is lovely this time of year! :lolabove:

This is one of the only good football-related things about being married to a UGA fan: she understands the importance of good scheduling in the fall!

Some of the others include an intimate knowledge of the cheapest beer spots in Athens, and a free place to stay after the game! :)

I'll be the guy on North Campus with the orange pants and the cattle prod. My cousin will be with me. You can't miss him. He's the sasquatch wearing UT stuff.

Ps- Eat at Achim's K-Bob on Broad Street. The best sandwich in Christendom.

no no. guy who allows wedding on Tennessee Saturday= former friend.

my buddy who marries on Oct. 14 will remain a friend. and my buddy who scheduled an off week last year is still a friend. especially because there's TVs at both.

ah, that sucks. My wife tried to pull that on me this year...one of her friends from college is getting married that day in Pittsburgh....man was she taken back when i told her i wasn't going. she really tried to play it like she didn't understand?:birgits_giggle:

i just told her, i've met this guy 3 times in my life...hardly worth missing the GA game...and i'm not even going to the game.

some would consider me to be a bad husband, i would rather look at it like im being a good TN fan.:)

and since my wife is out of town for the weekend...if anyone has an extra ticket for not too expensive...i'm suddenly free for the entire weekend.:whistling:

i laid it out for my girlfriend on the first few dates. Saturday's in the fall, Tennessee football comes first. i believed her enough that i didn't make her sign a contract.

same here...and i never thought i would have to deal with it too much because my wife is a huge Steelers fan and on Sundays, she's probably worse than me about Steeler games...so why all the gruff, is beyond me. either way though, i'm not going to Pittsburgh...

she tried to throw up the arguement that if one of my friends was getting married during a Steeler game she'd miss it for me...to which i replied, well that's conveneinet since virtually no one gets married on SUNDAYS!!!!!!!!!

she didn't really like that reply. her :realmad: me:)

I can't quite claim the high ground on this one. I agreed to get married the same day as the '97 opener and just rolled the dice that we'd have the wedding early and the game would be late. Got married at 1:00 . . . watched all 4 quarters of a blowout at 7:30.

hahaha. plus she's just saying that, and you know full well if somebody did get married on SUNDAY, she'd complain about it.

nicely done.

the only time i can truly be upset about a wedding date and time was when a buddy of mine, who went to UT along with his wife, got married the day of the Alabama game in 1999. the ceremony started as the game went to the half. it was the game where Andrew Zow and Tee Martin went at it.

these two were graduates of the University of Tennessee and they got married on the day of the Bama game. how do you make that decision???:realmad: and of course, i was in the wedding so i had to go. At least it was a good time, and we won the game.

I made a mid summer proposal. I knew it would take at least ten months to plan the wedding.

I am in for the tailgate just dont know where. We could find the official UT tailgate down there and just add a little to the punch.

It has been a while but the alumni group puts together a road tent and BBQ/Dogs and stuff for a entry fee. They used to have a band and TVs and such. I will call the VASF and alumni association to see what is up.

It is called The Big Orange Tailgate Tour. I need to find it on the utk.edu site but I think it is with the alumni stuff.

We had to delay our introduction at our wedding reception so I could watch the exciting end to the Arkansas game the year we won the NC. My wife was cool about it. A few of the guests were a bit angry but they were just jealous that I'm a UT fan and they weren't. The reception rocked as most of the wedding party were TN alumni.

I will be at the GA game. Wouldn't mind stopping by a good UT tailgate. Keep me informed.
