The helmets were alright for both even though I missed the traditional UGA helmet (thought they could've done a better job staying truer) but Oregon is god-awful every year. I really liked Oregon's matte black finish on their helmets but it made them look a bit like a SWAT team.
The trouble with both (as well as Boise's new opening uni) is that they look great in photos, especially publicity photos, but horrid on the field and even worse on TV. It's also disturbing that for all of them, it's all about fulfilling a contract with Nike and their Pro Combat uniform push -- nothing more or less. They want to sell to high schools, force college fans to buy new jerseys, and generally make money off of changes while the school's needs and wishes are hardly important. The good thing for everyone but Oregon is that they only have to wear them once to fulfill their contracts with Nike.
There's something wrong about Nike having so much power in CFB. I'm glad the Vols are with Addidas (better revenue and better deals) and I'm glad that Nike has the sense not to push the really big teams to drastically change their appearance.
