It's easier to beat a team that tries to smash mouth run against you than teams that try to out scheme you with speed. Uga is no Oregon! Heart and discipline always play a role against smash mouth teams. Does uga have the heart to keep running the ball vs a team like ut that will not be intimidated by their atmosphere? That is the main question. I don't think they can beat us with the pass. I don't think their offense is gonna confuse us, and our young guys are hardened by fire by the Oklahoma game. A few breaks here and there would have made that game very close. They will need to get out of their comfort zone to score points which means that coach Richt will need to gamble and do something out of the ordinary. I do not think that will happen due to the fact that they do not respect our team. This game is the classic upset game. It will come down to has the biggest heart. My money is on the fighting Butch Joneses.

Hope you are right. All the talking heads have Georgia in a rout. They see Gurley doing to us what he laid on Clemson and see the Georgia pass rush doing to Worley what OU did. They don't think the Vols can run the ball at all. I don't think we are that over matched but we will have to run the ball well enough to keep the Georgia LB's honest. Guess we'll see Saturday at high noon.

Question I have for some of you guys that are coaches and have broken the OU game down. It appeared to me that Stricker just was so disruptive it gave our OL fits and most of the sacks were just not getting a hat on a hat rather than just getting manhandled. Did you see it that way? If the problem was picking up stunts and blitzs then theoretically its fixable over 2 weeks. If you're just getting beat man on man then we're in for a long season.

No coach here. But, several of those direct hits on JW looked like confusion. If they were trying and failing on some of those, then UTC destroys us. Butch or Jancek one said that several of the breakdowns were wrong reads by the OL/TE.

One of the first was when Thomas chipped the DE and handed him off to Helm, who was standing in space with wood in hand. Daniel flinched when he realized it, but the guy was gone past by then.

It was often Robertson, Thomas, Helm side by side with (or w/o) Hurd in backfield to protect. That's scary by itself. What's worse is that they were facing one of the best DLs around and Striker who is just absolutely amazing. A terrible mix right there.

Here's to hoping the bye week (plus Wolf) makes a difference on that side.

On one final note. What the heck happened to Dontavius Blair? Is he a bust? Bad timing if so. :-(

In my heart I hope you are right OP. But truth be told they are a far superior team, talent alone.

Let's shock the country!

If its close and Richt has to coach on the fly I really like our chances.
Curt and AJ are the heart and soul of the Defense. They wont let Gurley beat them alone. Which means mason will have to put a drive together and score. I dont think UGA has that confidence and nor do the fans.

Every year they have more talent than UT and still manage to keep it close. I expect this year to be no different.

This could be like the 85 game against Auburn & Bo Jackson. Pat Dye called it an old fashioned whipping in every area.

There is one major difference......... actually three. Where Jackson was the only serious running threat Auburn had that year, Georgia has 4.With Gurley, Marshall, Michel, and Chubb sharing carries, this is going to be tough. Winnable game? If it is, the Vols are going to have to play far beyond what they have shown so far. They will have to play virtually mistake free, dominating, buy the DVD, drive your great grandchildren crazy years from now talking about it, highlight reel football, or it is going to be a very long game.

Some paper bags would have provided better resistance to the OK pass rush. It looked mostly to me that we were late trying to pick him/them up or missed completely. I do expect it to look better this week but there will still be misses.

This game will be tough and hinge on if UT's D-line can help the LBs in the running game. It will be a smash mouth ball game and it should be interesting.

I think the real key to this game is trying to get creative on offense and get more than a one score lead on them. Easier said than done, but doing so against a team that relies so heavily on run, takes them away from their strength, scheme-wise.

So, go for their jugular early, using our strength...BIG WR's. Even when we plan to run, I'd go with North, Malone and Croom a lot, to stress their secondary. Put Croom in the slot to create a mis-match on a LB or safety.

This is what Florida used to do so well in the 90's. They could jump on you in a hurry, and thus make your offense one-dimensional.
