Georgia will be thunderstruck.

It's easier to beat a team that tries to smash mouth run against you than teams that try to out scheme you with speed. Uga is no Oregon!

What's the difference between 59-14 and 45-10? Not much.

Of course, I hope and think we can win, but, just sayin'...

Ive been to every game in Athens since 92, except for 2010. Numerous times we have gone in the Sanford as clear underdogs and either won the game or played them very close. 98 we were clear dogs and won 22-3. 94 we beat them with a baseball player at QB (Todd Helton). 06 we were down by three scores just before half and blew them out
51-33. Two years ago we took the highly rated Dawgs to the wire. My point is that history shows that we usually play GA well at their place.
This is Butch and company's first trip between the hedges. I look for them to continue the trend. This will be a close game.
Getting ready to head that way............

Road wins in the SEC are going to be tough for the young Vols, but I do get a sense that the Vols may have a better chance for an upset next week against the Gators at home.
With a few breaks the young Vols may indeed give Florida all they can handle.

these two teams do seem to have a knack of playing down to one another's level. It's been happening for years. The results usually end up where they were supposed to, but it's a fun game to watch.

Hope you are right. All the talking heads have Georgia in a rout. They see Gurley doing to us what he laid on Clemson and see the Georgia pass rush doing to Worley what OU did. They don't think the Vols can run the ball at all. I don't think we are that over matched but we will have to run the ball well enough to keep the Georgia LB's honest. Guess we'll see Saturday at high noon.

UGA isn't as good as OU on defense. OUs D-line play is the best we will probably see all year.

Very much agree on the respect factor cause I don't think they respect us.

It's hard to respect a doormat and we have been a doormat for way too long. The only way to earn respect is to win, not come close or "if a few breaks come our way." We have to show up and win. Talk is cheap.

Their front 7 is absolutely the best we'll see all year. What made it even better is we played them on the road. That's why I'm not as worried about the UGA game.

Not saying we won't or can't win, but you have to crawl before you walk.

the Vols need to establish a running game,it will be interesting to see what happens with it,hopefully the hurry up offense, isn't a bunch of 3 and outs in less than a minute, the Defense just doesn't have the depth to withstand that

I agree with you from this standpoint. If you guys are able to run the ball early, my nervousness will go through the roof. I don't know that we can defend the pass if we start having to cheat an extra guy into the middle to help against the run.

That being said, if the team collectively (Gurley, Michel, Chubb, Douglas) are running at 7+ per carry by half time, I think the Dawgs set the tempo from there the rest of the game.

Don't look for Gurley to have more than 10 carries before halftime either.

It's easier to beat a team that tries to smash mouth run against you than teams that try to out scheme you with speed. Uga is no Oregon! Heart and discipline always play a role against smash mouth teams. Does uga have the heart to keep running the ball vs a team like ut that will not be intimidated by their atmosphere? That is the main question. I don't think they can beat us with the pass. I don't think their offense is gonna confuse us, and our young guys are hardened by fire by the Oklahoma game. A few breaks here and there would have made that game very close. They will need to get out of their comfort zone to score points which means that coach Richt will need to gamble and do something out of the ordinary. I do not think that will happen due to the fact that they do not respect our team. This game is the classic upset game. It will come down to has the biggest heart. My money is on the fighting Butch Joneses.

UGA never has to come out of it's comfort zone to score. They are very comfortable running the ball. They score comfortably by running the ball. And it is not just smash mouth, they will sweep it to the outside and few defenders will catch their RB's before they turn the corner.

BTW, a team that tries to outscheme you can always be neutralized with a better scheme. A smash mouth team will simply wear you out.:matrix:

Well, two things. First, UGA has the top rated LB crew in the SEC and one of the best in the nation. Their front 7 is in the same ballpark as OU. Second, UGA does not play their front 7 conventionally. They will blitz from multiple positions and formations. Way more complicated defense for an OL to properly block against. Takes experienced OL players to recognize and read what is coming and from where. May actually end up being a tougher job for the UT OL than the OU game was.:matrix:

I hope the defense plays well against the run and this is what I want the Georgia running backs to see up close and personal all day long !!!!

This could be like the 85 game against Auburn & Bo Jackson. Pat Dye called it an old fashioned whipping in every area.

There is one major difference......... actually three. Where Jackson was the only serious running threat Auburn had that year, Georgia has 4.With Gurley, Marshall, Michel, and Chubb sharing carries, this is going to be tough. Winnable game? If it is, the Vols are going to have to play far beyond what they have shown so far. They will have to play virtually mistake free, dominating, buy the DVD, drive your great grandchildren crazy years from now talking about it, highlight reel football, or it is going to be a very long game.

Wait a minute. Are you seriously comparing any of these backs to the great Bo Jackson?

I see it that way, too. As long as our D line stays fairly fresh, they'll hang in with keeping all those backs in check. I'm just worried all that pounding will eventually get them gassed and the dawgs will break some long ones in the fourth quarter. Offensively we'll be OK with Wolf back in the lineup, both in the passing game and more surprisingly in the run game. Keep 'em off the field.

We need big hits right away. If we set the stage and come out punch em in the mouth right off the bat I feel pretty good. Worley needs a few seconds and their secondary is getting carved.
