Georgias loss

Doesn't matter other than it further erodes Mark Richt's status ever so slightly as a big time coach and maybe opens the door just a little more in recruiting. Richt is approaching a Fulmer-like point where 17 year olds don't really remember him winning anything.

Au contraire! ANYtime Georgia loses embarrassingly on national tv it benefits Tennessee! Believe it....high school kids were watching tonight.

Does the georgia loss benefit Tennessee in any way?

I suppose the overall record could come into play come bowl time if we're tied in the division for something other than first, but the head to head usually takes care of that.

Fulmer and Richt are a good analogy. Fulmer had Peyton and Richt had David Green. For the most part, once those guys were gone mediocrity set in.

According to some on here, if they had won it would have helped UT in recruiting.

17 year olds?! I'm way older than that and I don't remember him winning anything!

UGA is probably going to start 0-2 after watching them tonight. I think a lot of it depends on if they beat Ole Miss on the road because if they are 1-3 after that game, then I don't see how Richt will make it through the season. If they can win Ole Miss and play competively against us then they could finish the regular season strong and go 8-4. Their last 4 games are winnable and they definitely owe G. Tech after losing to them last year.

to He11 with UGA.

EVERY LOSS BY GEORGIA HELPS TENNESSEE BECAUSE it accelerates their downward spiral into complete and utter chaos (otherwise known as the Jim Donnan days part 2).

Im glad they lost, but if thirty would have won it would have been better for is when we beat a higher ranked team

probably need more to happen than just 1 game - the first of the year - for it to have any significant effect whatsoever

I would argue it was more once David Cutcliffe and Brian Van Gorder left, mediocrity set in.

I am glad they lost because where i live in north Georgia just south of Chattanooga is full of Georgia fans. And they are a cocky bunch.I have been telling my wifes brother for 2 months that Boise state would not be intimidated. He was like Yeah yeah the Dawgs will win by at least 17.I have been trying to call him for since the ended to tell him i told you so.And tuesday when i go back to work i will be saying the same thing to a bunch of co-workers that thought Georgia was headed to the Bcs title game.

If you're going on recruiting, then you want Richt to do just well enough to hang on every year, but not poorly enough to actually get fired and replaced by a dynamic new coach. You want him to be a dead man walking long enough that recruiting falls off, and the cupboard looks so bare that top coaches will regard the UGA job the same way that guys like Gary Patterson looked at the UT job after Kiffin left. You want there to be a huge hole to dig out of.

UGA's not that far down yet. From a Machiavellian standpoint, tonight probably isn't a good result for UTK.

I thought Georgia won last year also.Don't know the the score of that game.I do know that georgia tech ran all over them in athens in 2009.They had close to 400 yards rushing.

Tonight? No.

Now if Georgia goes on to lose 5 or 6 more this season, then I'll lead the chant to raid their recruits and go all scorched earth on that state.

I'm almost getting to the point where I want Richt to stay afloat for fear that they could get a good coaching staff in place.

Bingo.

Do you feel better about UT's chances if Mark Richt is the UGA coach in 2012, or if Dan Mullen is?
