Georiga Is 2nd Best

If Worley throws more than 1 crazy pass before he has a TD or a big pass play, he'll get booed. Our fan base, by and large, has already given up on him.
That's stupid in all parts and especially if it is true that most fans have given up on him considering the youth at WR.

I'm convinced a large reason he got booed last week is because fans wanted to see him just put the game away so we could see a freshman play.
Probably... and that's even more stupid.

He's the scapegoat for our fans this year, plain and simple. Until he really steps up and plays a complete game, he'll get booed.

I truly hope the fans "by and large" are smarter and more devoted to the Vols than that.

not the best defensive team. maybe the third best defensive team. overall the second best team though.

We held LSU to 77 rushing yards. LSU has a pretty fair running game. I wouldn't call that mediocre. The points and yardage have come as a result of playing so many freshmen in the secondary. Once they mature, the numbers will get better.

know what ya mean. check our secondary

I can't recall ever hearing fans boo simply because we are losing. Heck, I saw us get whipped by plenty of Spurrier Florida teams in the 90s and I don't remember boos. I remember when Auburn just man-handled us in 2004 and I don't recall any boos.

I don't think we'll hear many boos simply because we're losing. I don't even think we'll hear them if we're losing by a large margin. But if our offense comes out again and just looks absolutely inept and our QB is missing receivers standing 5 yards away and throwing it into the dirt and over everyone's head and we just keep turning the ball over or going 3 and out...then you might hear some.

I absolutely remember plenty of boos coming out in the early/mid-2000s when Randy Sanders would just run/run/incomplete/punt time after time after time.

Nobody booed a large margin loss, as you said there were plenty in that timeframe even when we were a national powerhouse (nebraska, florida, etc)... they booed inept playcalling and execution. Stuff like that. That run/run/inc/punt happened twice against South Alabama. To me, that is why fans were booing.

I'm not saying I agree with it. It is stupid. But mark my words, Worley will get booed if he plays badly.

I still think play calling gets far more boos than bad execution.

I got what you meant. No slight intended toward you... agreement I think. Maybe I should have made that clearer.

Probably true. However as nice of a man as Richt seems to be... you will always have to factor him choking games away that you could have or even should have won. That's been his history the whole time he's been there.

He is a lot like Fulmer was for UT. He's so close that you really cannot muster the will and support that you need to get rid of him. OTOH, he never really seems to quite get over that last hump. His not losing big to the top tier teams makes it even harder for you.

I'm perfectly OK with you all keeping him. UT will eventually find the right coach whether Jones or someone else. Richts' wasting of talent over time will be a great selling point since UT needs to recruit GA well to have any chance at winning.

UT needs some breaks and some defensive stops. One sliver of a match up help is that UGA likes to run right at a D and not wide like Oregon. Tackle to tackle backed up by AJ... the run D has been pretty good. The difficulty has been setting the edge to keep teams from running wide.

Oddly enough, I think both teams' strategies are probably similar. Load up to stop the run and take some chances with man D. I don't think UT has much of a shot if they let Murray sit in the pocket and look for holes in the zone. That also favors their style of receiver.

UT has to win the turnover
and penalty battle... which is likely. Richts teams are not known for their disciplined play.

UT has to get some 1st down conversions from the passing game to give the run game a little room. IT doesn't have to be big but Worley has to start hitting the short stuff.

UT probably needs Worley to run more than he has to date.

None of this comes close to assuring a win... but it improves their chances.

Valid points. To expound more on this ^, I think we not only have to win the turnover battle in terms of margins (they commit more than we do), I think we have to not turn the ball over AND recover some fumbles/pick Murray off AND score on those take aways. If we can get multiple take aways, score on every one of them, and not commit any of our own - we should be right there in the 4th with them.

Bulldogs are the 2nd best team we have played this season. They have a high scoring offense and a mediocre defense .They will probably score 45 points on the Vols, seeing how our defense is pretty weak. Can Tennessee score 46 points,I truly doubt that happening.I believe the fans will be booing tommorow, not good experience for the recruits visiting.
2nd best team? That's your opinion. 2nd best offense maybe but not team. And we all know a good offense doesn't always make a team. Look at the 2012 vols.

Do you believe Florida is a better team? The could end up being the better team at seasons end but they certainly weren't when we played them.

I don't like this game. We've just come off a big, physical win at home and there might be a tendency to come out flat (ala GA/UK in '12). We'll mix it up on offense quite a bit with Gurley being out, would anyway. JJ Green will get some carries.

Our defense is young and tends to be inconsistent. Looks great at times (stopping USC at the 1 ydl, end of th game vs LSU). I think we'll score plenty, just haven't seen enough of UT to know how much offense you can produce. I don't like a low-scoring game. We'd better protect the football and the clock, and not take UT for granted. It's the SEC.

UT will be lucky to get 16 points, much less 46.

Tall order but I'd say you are pretty close. In the absence of those turnovers, UT has to somehow control field position.

I am going to say that UT has to blitz while keeping the middle jammed up. To get away with that, I think they have to take AJ out. If you are going to blitz corners or safeties... AJ can't be the LB you match up on their receivers. Sapp can. Brewer can... Not AJ.

Not sure who the better team is,the best defense absolutely. And defenses win championships. your right about not being good at the time that they played us, at least until their backup Qb came in, then things changed.

Oregon would demolish Georgia. Alabamas a different story. We cant go score for score with Georgia yet unless we turn this offense around but it only takes a week. Georgias defense is their weak spot.
