There is a huge region in Pakistan that OBL is hiding out in. The Pakistani government is weak and has little police powers outside of the cities. The military holds loyalties to regional and sectional areas more than country. The military will not go into this area of Pakistan because they will get killed. US and NATO troops in Afganistan wont invade a nation to launch an attack.

We can already drill in oil-rich regions that our government has already leased. We have all the oil we need. Poor management. Opening up more drilling involves big money contracts for *certain* companies, and believe me, opening up these areas will not pass any profit on to you. Then, it will take 10 years to get ANY oil. What to do in the meantime? Oh, what happens when we tap that resource?

Sunday's meet the press was pretty informative, where this issue was really hashed out.

June 22: Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE), Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), political roundtable - Meet the Press, online at MSNBC - MSNBC.com

But this is just my opinion on the issue. No need to be offended.

If we eased the restrictions and mandates that oil could start flowing much quicker. These "certain" oil companies are the ones with the most technology and know how, why wouldn't they be the ones to receive the contracts? It will get more oil on the market and help with the speculation problems we have been seeing as well as the demand issues. If you think the demand will work itself out you are wrong. China has just now started to ramp it up and their consumption will only increase, India's demand is similar in growth. We need oil sooner than later.

I'm offended that anybody in their right mind would turn to senators Biden and Graham for confirmation of anything other than it's light during the day and dark at night.

Well, at least it's a more worthwhile goal than drilling.
because??

Oh, you've bought into the global warming / oil is the devil (and running out) agenda, so anything contrary is simply not worth while.

To follow that up, you tend to put the "I come in peace" label behind every one of your pronouncements. That certainly makes the hard stand much more palatable to those of us who think you get all of your opinions from the talking points of the party of your choosing.
