Get ready to be underwhelmed

Just saying we got Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt and didn't have any issues with the NCAA

Yes, we have a new AD

However, that doesn't simply erase what everyone had seen from UT in over 12 years and that is pure incompetence

Most are in a wait and see pattern to see how the new administration handles themselves

White was a good start

For some reason I don't think sanctions will be as bad as most think. If the NCAA hammers us for self reporting they systematically create a situation to where no school self reports. They will take their chances and make them investigate. Also, the NCAA is covered up in investigations and low on man/woman power. I think they will take our recommendations and run with it. Lastly, if they do hammer us, I'd sue them or go rogue. If LSU and Auburn are not sanctioned for basketball then no school should ever be sanctioned. Just my two cents

Gee, it’s almost like hiring a coach in the middle of January during a pandemic after your chancellor has admitted to Level I violations doesn’t exactly bring the candidates out of the woodwork. If only some of us were saying this the whole time even before Pruitt was canned.

Yeah. Can't believe we fired a 3-7 coach who actually cheated to get that record...

We totally should have kept him.
Good point 👍.

Unless you're simply implying that "it would be hard" because of the situation.
In which I and others reply : "WELL DUH!"

Either way, it's absolutely usless what you and others were supposedly trying to warn people about.

The move needed to be made. Get over it....

I fear the OP is correct. If we get turned down by all the tier 1 candidates, probably best to go with Steele as interim in 2021. Hopefully the NCAA situation will clarify and the AD can make another run at it next season.

While I wish, like many here, that this will resolve quickly, we best be prepared for a multi-year slog back to even a mediocre football team.

White may well have to settle for a coach that doesn't initially excite the fan base. Then hire the "big boy" in a few yrs when and if things settle down. Pretty much the same thing you stated.

We should have just fired him after Kentucky, or any of the subsequent 5 double digit losses and just paid the stupid buyout.

If we're now shopping in the basement anyway, why did we even worry about firing him for cause?

Ok, since you can predict the future what are the winning lotto numbers... It's not the pandemic that is is the problem. It's not knowing the violations and there is not a whole lot of leaks coming from the AD search on this one, which is a good thing. Also he has only been looking for 3 days.... come on.

They did it to save millions but now it will cost them millions. Gonna have to guarantee a coaches contract through probation, and then give him at least a 5 year deal after that, plus pay mega $$ to even get a decent coach. But soon as word is out someone will e-mail him saying stupid stuff anyways so... I would say we are gonna end up with another Dooley.

Kiffin till it’s not!

Lol... Plowman had zero ability to not start an investigation once the allegations were made, and once they started finding evidence of Level 1&2 violations, what option do you really think she had?

Is it just me?
I am tired of seeing articles posted by "so-called" journalist with a bunch of nothing.
So, evidently there is this guy named Cainer. He doesn't have a story and he has no sources and evidently doesn't know how to go about tracking down facts.
So, he does what any guy can do now (you don't have to have media credentials), he gives his opinion.
Well, UT isn't a good job right now. Does Cainer have coaching experience? No. Is he a Career/Vocation Coach? No. Has he worked for the NCAA compliance? No.
Yet, somehow, he makes the determination that a great coach wouldn't want this job. Why? Cause they MIGHT lose scholarships, they MIGHT not be able to go to a bowl game for a year or two.
Here's a suggestion Cainer, pick up the phone and call UT. Try gaining information about the internal investigation. Try calling someone at the NCAA or look at prior punishments based on similar infractions. Call other coaches who have taken over a team on probation, such as Bill O'Brien at Penn State and ask them why they took the job. Call several coaches and ask what colleges currently are struggling, but would be a destination spot if they got things going? Take the answers to these questions and write an article. I guarantee it will be a hundred times better than your uneducated opinion piece.

NONE! Any other answer is delusional and dangerous for any program.

Newsflash:. Tennessee's last 3 HC hires have not pleased everyone.

Agree. There were probably many Alabama fans that were not pleased when they hired Saban. They might not admit it today, but again, these types of articles are absolutely garbage.

Danny White will surprise fans with the hire and it could wind up being quite good.
