He has let the program go and now we have lost to Butler. It is time for UT to cut ties with Pearl before our men's basketball program is in complete ruin. This latest loss is going to drop us from the Top 25, another embarassment to a program that entered the tourney as a #2 seed only to be knocked out during the first weekend. Again, Hamilton needs to show some moxi and get rid of Bruce Pearl, NOW!!!

I just figured I would go ahead and start the post, because we all know that there are definitely some on VolNation that will be in here to hop right on this idea...

No, but any attempt to revoke the scholarship of Jordan Howell would get a receptive audience from me.

Our PG play was definitely lacking tonight.
Jordan Howell wouldn't be a contributor in the Atlantic Sun, let alone the SEC. Yet another great legacy left by Buzz Peterson. I hope Bruce just bites the bullet and plays the freshmen. I'd rather see those guys throwing the ball away than Howell shooting it.

i'd rather Pearl put me on the court than play Howell.

I think the entire team can share in tonight's debacle. Startin 0-6 from the foul line, 10-15% shooting from the floor in the second half, ~25 TOs.

Ugh... hope the football game is more enjoyable than that putrid showing.

I love Bruce and I knew we'd have growing pains. We all know that. I HADDDD to turn it off when we were 3-21 from the field in the 2nd and Chism airballed the 3.

It was downright embarassing for the Vols to stink up Madison Square Garden . . . I'm really surprised Pearl let it happen . . .

The only consolation is the entire team should have learned a lesson on this one . . .

Bah, it's early. Coaches are still figuring out their rotations and lineups.

it was hard to listen to as well. but it sounded as if, and Kesling/Bertlekamp agreed, UT was simply beaten by a better team. experience and playing time together gave Butler the advantage over UT's better athleticism.

in the spirit of the OP, yeah, we're 0-2 against Butler. 48 years without a win against a team is just pathetic. bring back jerry!

My interpretation of that theme is there is only one most important sport at Tennessee.

Basketball made the last football offseason much more bearable.

If the football team were to go 13-0, is basketball even a blip on the UT fan's map?

After the first week of January. :)

Basketball will always run second to football, but I'm ecstatic that we have a b-ball program to get excited about. Probably an exact role reversal for the 'kats.

Well, it's lovely to still be discussing football after the first weekend of November.

And the UK roundball-only fans haven't uttered "Just wait 'til basketball season." Heck, in March, they were muttering, "Only 2 weeks to football spring practice."

It's been a good year. ;)

who even cares? There is but one sport that matters at UTK IMO.

Another example of my thesis.

"Fans" that only follow and like the football team at UT are MUCH more likely to be "NegaVols" than those that follow all, or most sports at the University of Tennessee. Those people that live and die with every aspect of the University, appreciate what they have more than the ones that only tune in for a few months a year.

Now, as I said elsewhere, that doesn't make either side right or wrong, just different. Both sides are entitled to be fans however they want.

I just find it interesting that seems to be the way this "Fulmerite"/"NegaVol" thing shakes out for the most part.
