I didn't see a thread about this, but I am very much into Ghost hunting. Have any of you ever had any experiences or do you believe at all?

Share your experience if you don't mind

Been a few but the most memorable because 2 of us experienced it at the same time.

Me and fiance (at the time) were visiting my parents, since we weren't married we had to sleep in separate beds/rooms. She was in my old bedroom in the basement and I was sleeping on a bed outside of the bedroom. Something woke me, sounded like someone trying to walk quietly, sneaking up on me. I thought it was my fiance trying to scare me or whatever, so when the sound got right beside the bed I tossed my pillow and said "got ya" but nothing was there. not a second later my fiance came running out of the bedroom in a panic saying someone just ran over her bed.

My Grandpa used to tell some stories that would put chills on you.

Me and my wife lived in a house that belonged to my dad. And, something terrible had happened at the house. We lived there for maybe 2 months and we bought a brand new pathfinder. 2 or three weeks after we bought it, the alarm started going off in the middle of the night. We never locked our doors to the car or turned the alarm on. Me and my wife would be getting to sleep real good and this damn alarm starts going off. Sometimes it would do it 3or 4 times a week and sometimes it might do it once. We took it back to the dealership and they couldn’t find anything wrong.

To make a long story short, we didn’t live there very long.

One particular one I'll never forget is when I was around 17 or 18 years old, I was woken up by some people talking. I hadn't opened my eyes yet and thought it might've been morning time and my family was talking in the kitchen. As I opened my eyes, I realized it was still the middle of the night and there were people talking outside my window. They were speaking about going to war and when I went to open the blinds, there was nobody out there. Creepy as hell and I'll never forget it.

My grandparents house was built in the 1820s, typical plantation style house. The only reason it wasn't burnt during the civil war when the union came through was it was being used as a hospital and had both union and confederate troops in it. So a whole bunch of people died in that house. When I would spend the night it was fairly common to hear people walking around, feel a presence in a room. Granny used to say they were just lost souls who can't find their way home.

Not my story, but a friends. They moved into an old house but didn't know any details. They had a couple pets including two cats. The cats were kinda personable but in the house would sometimes ignore the family like they would if someone else was there. the cats kept following around nothing like they would a person. One day the youngest kid was telling his parents about the person the cats were following. the parents asked the kid to point it out or describe it, he only could if his eyes were closed. So he did and he pointed to a spot in the room. Within moments the two cats came into the room and stared at the same spot. kid would shut his eyes, move his hand, and the cats would mirror the movement.

the family started thinking it was weird, but didn't think too much of it. Then one night the three other members all recalled "seeing" the figure when they shut their eyes, but they were all in separate rooms, but knew the figure was in a specific spot.

they lived there for years, never had any real issues or scares or anything. Youngest stopped reliably seeing the figure at 10. but then all 4 would have simultaneous "spottings" of the figure at various times.

No such thing. Those who have "seen" them are more than likely convinced they saw something that was never there. An active imagination, drunk, on drugs, just crazy, or watched too many scary movies,

That's your opinion and that's okay.

As long as they lived there they saw the figures, but only one at a time. Always female. Sometimes a little girl, sometimes a woman, different ages at different times. One day they started referring to the figures as Maria. They all had the feeling it was the same person/figure, just at different points in life.

so they lived there until their oldest, my friend, went off to college, they sold the house back a family member of the people they bought it from. a couple years later they were back in town and talked with the people they sold it to and asked about the history of the house, but avoided saying anything about the ghost/figure. It had been in the family's hand for a long time, sometimes a cousin, sometimes a brother. They asked if there was any bad history there, was anyone killed there? No, no one was killed, but the owner asked them why they asked. They told them about the figure, but didn't mention the name. the owner said "Oh then you saw Maria".

that freaked them out. Owner went on to say it was a family tradition to name the oldest granddaughters after their grandmothers name. They had several Maria's and several Beths. But one of the Maria's died as a very young baby. The owner family always assumed it was Maria they saw, but said no guests had ever seen her, and thought it was just a trick of the mind because they knew the story.

Very interesting stuff. I love these stories.

I want to believe but sadly in my 33 years on earth I have never experienced anything paranormal. And we even went to all the local "hotspots" as teenagers. Also with all the cell phones now, still no super clear 100% real photo of a ghost. Like I said I want to believe in some sort of other life so I get it, just never happened. So far.

I don't believe in ghost, because of math.

Rant incoming.

There are close to 8 billion people in the world. There have been billions and billions more throughout the eons our species has existed. If even if 1/10 of 1 percent become ghosts, we should be tripping over them. There shouldn't be any doubt if they exist.

Their numbers should be 6 figures at least, and that's a conservative estimate. Combine that with us knowing places that should have a higher population of them, cities, battlefields, hospitals, ect. Europe should be crawling with them after 2 World Wars. The math just doesn't add up.

It doesn't stop ghost stories from being fun though.

I’ve seen them, heard them and felt them. I had scratches appear on my neck and my friends neck while sitting in a parked car outside of an abandoned old house that we knew had ghostly activity. Absolutely terrifying.

There’s an old thread buried deep somewhere here with good stories. I had a legit encounter as a child and then a couple as a teenager/young adult that could be explained away as sleep paralysis, I guess. Still was pretty crazy stuff.

You assume that we "should" see them. I don't believe in them myself, but your argument is flawed in its assumption of how ghosts "should" act. to be fair, I think most ghost hunters make the same mistake, but I think a lot of them are doing it for profit.

everyone may not become ghosts. All ghosts may not be seen/experienced. all ghosts may not be permanent/repeats, all people may not be able to see them, either for some type of genetic trait, or something tying them to a specific ghost. if they exist they exist in some manner that goes beyond our established rules of physics so its not like our technology would be much of a help in seeing them either.

I'm using some of the same assumptions believers do. Call it considering your audience. If we stray to far from that framework the discussion just becomes to arbitrary.

I could say we don't see ghost becomes they don't have any mass or weight and therefore aren't effected by gravity. That means they are left behind as the earth travels through space and are all floating out there at points in space where the earth was when they died. It works to explain why we don't see ghost. But it's so far out into hypothetical land that it doesn't really add to the discussion.

About 9 years ago I was sound asleep but woke up with the eerie feeling of someone/something else in the room other than my wife and I. Fell back to sleep just a few minutes later. Woke up again (positive it wasn’t a dream) with the inability to speak or move as if something was doing this to me. This only lasted a few moments, however, it felt like eternity. My wife shook me and the oppression was gone. She said she heard me grunting/mumbling like I was trying to scream with a pillow on my head. Never been terrified or scared before until that night.

Not to turn this thread into a debate about the demonic, but I've had this happen as well. It was an afternoon nap at a home I lived in in North Carolina. The secular world has tried to give a scientific explanation to this called sleep paralysis and tried to explain what causes it, but they still admit they are not sure. I can tell you with no doubt it was demonic. Whatever it was, I could see its face and it was terrifying. I had always heard to mention "Jesus" when it happens but I couldn't breathe, but I was finally able to choke it out and it disappeared in an instant. Then I strangely felt totally calm.

Craziest thing I've ever experienced.

I have no explanation for my experience. The presence surrounding me that night was not pleasant at all.
