Ghosts: Do you believe?

I've got another one my uncle told me. I've obviously known my uncle all my life and have never for any reason doubted anything he has ever said.

He used to live in an old house that belonged to the family when he was a paramedic. He said that one night after a shift, he came home to get some sleep because he was going to cut grass the next day. He said he fell asleep and thought he was woken up by six people in black cloaks. He was taken down the stairs and out of the front door into the woods and they slowly lowered him into a body of water on the property. He woke up in reality and was laying in his bed the same way he fell asleep but his clothes were wet like it had really happened. I am so glad that house is long gone, I don't think I would've ever stepped foot in there again.

About 9 years ago I was sound asleep but woke up with the eerie feeling of someone/something else in the room other than my wife and I. Fell back to sleep just a few minutes later. Woke up again (positive it wasn’t a dream) with the inability to speak or move as if something was doing this to me. This only lasted a few moments, however, it felt like eternity. My wife shook me and the oppression was gone. She said she heard me grunting/mumbling like I was trying to scream with a pillow on my head. Never been terrified or scared before until that night.

That reminds me of an experience I had 11 years ago (give or take). I was living in a small 3/2 house and renting a room out to a pal of mine. The layout of the house was such that my master BR opened up into the kitchen, and the other two were on the other side of the house. One night (early, early morning around 2am), I awoke (or dreamed that I awoke) and couldn't talk or move. After a few seconds I heard a blood-curdling high-pitched shriek and then everything went dead quiet. I was shaking, wide awake, and in a cold sweat at that point. The next day my pal asked me if I heard something, and described the same scream. Weird stuff.

My parents and brother have both lived in the old civil war era house on the farm. My mom sxperienced some things. She finally told them she was there to look after the place and it stopped.

When my brother moved in , the ghosts would get real loud and he couldn't sleep sometimes. He came home one time and a large painting the normally hangs in the stairwell was on the floor in the parlor by front door. His weenie dog would rise up and bark toward the parlor. Finally, he shouted out one time for them to shut up and let him sleep. All has been quiet since.

BIL had several things, as well as my sister with her daughter until she was 3. But, never me personally.

If you were out in the sticks, black cats, as in panthers/pumas will sound very similar to a screeching woman.

This was in a suburban/developed area in south GA, close in to town. But yeah, that did cross my mind!

our dog will be laying on the couch and all of the sudden he will sit up & look down the hallway moving his head like he following something. This has happened a few times.

Once he was in the living room (again on the couch) he gets up & walks to the edge of the dining room & started growling. He never actually went in, just stood in the hallway at the edge of the dining room growling. I got up & inspected, but didn’t see or hear anything.

Do you live in an area that has panthers or pumas?

We have had them before on occaison. Guy living in the old house years ago to keep it up for us shot at a black panther crossing the field accross the road. It's not common here though. WE do have some Fisher Cats. Kind of a wolverine relative. THey have a god awful noise too.

Sleep paralysis. It's happened to me a few times. It is terrifying. Strangely enough, it has only happened during naps on the couch. I think it is essentially your body waking up before your brain. Some people do report seeing some kind of monster or demon when it occurs, although I did not experience that. Thankfully.

Old Hag Syndrome. I had it, and I’ve never encountered something with such hatred other than when it was sitting in my chest. I don’t think it’s people’s imaginations, because people describe seeing the same thing.

Had a incident years ago (8 years maybe) going to work early one morning around 3:00am. Past a female coming towards me. I hit the bright lights and there was no color in clothes and nothing facial (just blurry looking) I could describe. She was wearing like a long shower robe or dress. Living here my whole life never seen somebody walking this late at night (not in a town or city).
Memory will stay with me forever

edit: two lane road coming towards me, 55MPH speed limit

Probably a spirit for sure. 3AM is known as the witching hour.

In theory yes, but just an FYI from a devout follower of Christ, there's nothing special about 3AM that gives any evil entity any sort of extra power. People pretty much made that up, and Catholics seem to have run with it.

Just wanted to put that out there for anyone who is scared if they are alone at 3AM and weird stuff is happening. It's just your imagination, let's not give undue credit to evil forces. This is God's world at any hour :)

I’ve had sleep paralysis before as well. I cannot move at all, I can’t even breathe. After about a minute, my body shakes itself awake in a panic due to lack of oxygen. I hate it when it happens. Luckily, it hasn’t happened in a few years.

I don't believe in ghosts. However, a few days after we moved into our new house, our then 3 year old daughter woke us up at 2 am standing right outside our bedroom, saying that she could see someone at the end of the hall. To this day, the memory of her little voice whispering "There's someone down the hall" gives me the chills. Even asking her what she said, she kept repeating it. I've never been so freaked out in my life, but upon checking there was in fact no one in our house but us. The next morning she had absolutely no recollection of anything, and luckily nothing like that has happened since.

I believe in the paranormal although I've had no personal experiences. I think part of it is my mother watching Unsolved Mysteries when I was a kid.
