Why can't Bailey be given a shot? I know he can't do much with his feet. But, UT needs a ABOVE AVERAGE PASSER vs SEC teams!!!!! He was pretty effective throwing the ball against good SEC teams with a below average OL last year! I think he does even better behind the OL we have this year! I would be willing to bet anyone on this site $5,000 that neither JM or HH has anywhere close to 74.5 completion percentage and 0 Ints vs any 4 SEC teams on UTs schedule this year!!!!! CJH, PLEASE give the guy a chance!!!

Not here to pole vault over molehills of the past, but I did find the OP's dare amusing, when he said (emphatically!) he would bet anyone $5,000 that neither Joe Milton nor Hendon Hooker have "anywhere close to 74.5 completion percentage and 0 INTs against any 4 SEC teams...!!!!!"

Did anyone cash in on that one? Because Hendon certainly accomplished it:

vs Mizzou -- 15 of 19 (78.9%), 3 TD, 0 INT
vs USCe -- 17 of 23 (73.9%), 3 TD, 0 INT
vs Ole Miss -- 17 of 26 (65.4%), 1 TD, 0 INT
vs Kentucky -- 15 of 20 (75.0%), 4 TD, 0 INT
---------------------------------------------
combined -- 64 of 88 (72.7%), 11 TD, 0 INT

And that wasn't even Hendon's best season. His best season came a year later.

Heh.

Gotta be careful what you'll put $5k down on, man.

Go Vols!

p.s. Wish Harrison Bailey the best, wherever he is now.

HB should 100 percent be given a chance to play.
He wont, tho.
Not under this coach. He would look absolutely stupid if HB went out there and played better than Milton/Hooker. Which he probably would.
Hope he transfers, i'll become a fan of that team.
Boy did this EVER age poorly.

I had to look it up to see if he found another landing spot. The RS Sr who was 3rd string at UNLV prior to his last transfer is now 3rd string at Louisville. He is no longer on scholarship after accepting a PWO offer from the Cardinals.

With 9 QB's on the roster, it was pretty stupid of HB to pick L'ville. At this point, he's proven he will not start at FBS. Could have been a star in FCS and re-upped his career. Prolly could have started an TnTech several years now. At what point does his parents realize he was on a free ride as a freshman and 3 or so years later, they are now paying his tuition. Dad must be proud.

We we also competing for Haynes King that year, who is now starting at Georgia Tech. I believe King was also a 5-star recruit.

Update on where our former QBs are now playing

JT Shrout - Starter Arkansas State
Harrison Bailey - Backup (3rd string) Louisville
Tayven Jackson - Projected Starter Indiana
Brian Maurer - Backup Stephen F Austin
Kaidon Salter - In QB Battle Liberty

I am interested to see how Shrout and Jackson do. I actually had high hopes for Jackson. Of course I had high hopes for Bailey as well and bought into the stats he put up in the Georgia HS football system.
Kaidon Salter going to liberty to receive forgiveness for gun and Marijuana!

Flopped epically with way better talent on the roster.

Is Harrison Bailey the biggest bust ever?
Close, but JJ peterson was ranked higher and somehow played even less lmao.

The ultimate bust would be a 5 star that did similar to JJ or HB. I'm sure there's someone.

The offense literally tanked to being worse under HB than before. People thinking he did well after averaging 5 sacks/game 🤔😶😶😅 The offense couldn't score except more than 19 pts except vs lowly Vandy smdh

One went on to make an NFL roster and get at least get paid for a year + practice squad. The other is 3rd string multiple seasons and will never come close to matching other's stats. It's astounding what the soyboys would do for Mr. Midseason QUITTER. SMDH

And unlike others, while I wish no ill will, I'll never wish luck upon a midseason quitter. Absolutely pathetic. No spine or character. VFN.

Bailey is the one that really surprises me. Just shows you how hard it is to rank HS QB's. I've always liked JT, really hoping he does well. Also shows the coaching and lack of talent we had. Shrout, Bailey and Mauer all started games for us and JT is the only one who is starting at a lower level school. Mauer can't even win a starting job at SF Austin? Crazy! Still pulling for all of them to do well, especially JT. Also think Tayven will be a good college QB.

Lasty, look at what Pennix is doing at Washington.Yet Pruitt didn't want him.

Caught the Tom Allen show here in Indiana this evening and coach was asked about starting QB. Coach said he was incredibly impressed with football IQ Tayven possesses and gave a loti of credit to the coaching staff at UT.

That thread is gold. Hope no one there shows their face again. That was just pathetic.

Jackson didn't get the start against tOSU, but came in and has lit a fire.
He has Indiana hanging close at halftime.
