This is from a while ago. I haven't tested it lately but it may be why you're having issues.

Giphy has several types of links. The short one doesn't work but the gif link should. The html5 worked on the test site but I haven't tried it here.

So I guess the gifs have some scrolling thing now instead of just the gif, doesn't seem right.

So, new finding. Some gifs posted only show motion when I scroll up or down on my iPad. Examples ITT are posts 128 and 135. Post 145 does not do this.

If I stop the page from scrolling, the gifs noted freeze. They play when I move the screen up and down. Weird.
