I have no idea if this is valid or not. VIA, you may know. My cousin that donates a healthy chunk of change to the program emailed me that Giles is a silent commit. I didnt put much stock into it until I also read this on another board. I hope this is true.

Yes, Jarvis Giles, and ViA has mentioned before that he has been said to be a silent commit.

I just have a gut felling, based on absolutely nothing, that Giles will be the better player

highlights of junior RB sensation Jarvis Giles from Gaither (Tampa). The 5-foot-11, 178 pound speedster had an impressive night against Tampa Jefferson earlier this year where he rushed for over 200 yards and 3 touchdowns, including a 63-yard touchdown run. So far this season has rushed 180 times for over 1,100 yards and 16 touchdowns. See why colleges across the country have their eyes on this standout from Tampa.

IN THE HUDDLE 2009: Jarvis Giles

As we continue our look, spotlighting top football players across the state of Florida, we head toward the Tampa Bay area and find someone who we’ve been watching over the past year.

Jarvis Giles has proven that he can get it done against some of the best competition in the region, and as Floridafb.com has done over the past year, we are bringing you this IN THE HUDDLE segment to give you the opportunity to know him better.

IN THE HUDDLE continues to take you to practice sessions in Fernandina Beach, pre-game workouts in Lehigh, and camps and combines from North Miami Beach to the Tampa area where Giles and his Gaither teammates continue to improve each week.

THE GILES REPORT
NAME:
Jarvis Giles
SCHOOL: Gaither
CITY: Tampa
POSITION: RB
HEIGHT: 5-10
WEIGHT: 170
40 TIME: 4.47 (Reported)
HEAD COACH: Mark Kantor

SCOUTING GILES: Ever since watching him during his sophomore year, we are sold by a number of things this gifted young man can do with - and without the football.

Not only does he have the speed to get outside, but he also has that “gear” needed to break runs and take them the distance.

He has great vision, good hands and has a feel for where every run will take him. While he is thin and doesn’t weigh as much as you would like, you have to remember that he is young, and when he does put on more weight, he will be a nationally-rated runner.

In an area that continues to churn out quality football players, here is a prospect who will remain at the top over the next two years - and beyond!

GILES GAME: As a sophomore, he burst on the scene with an impressive 1,401 yards on 200 carries. This impressive athlete is also a track standout, running a 10.86 (100) last year during his sophomore season.

Is already among one of the top runners in the area during his junior season, closing in on the 1,000 yard mark.

WHAT THE COLLEGE RECRUITERS ARE SAYING:
"This is a football talent with a solid background and one who has proven that he will be a major college prospect over the two years."

HIS BAGS ARE PACKED: While it is early, UCF, USF and Tennessee have already shown that they are interested in landing this impressive football talent.

Gaither junior running back Jarvis Giles’ scholarship offers are nearing double digits.

Giles received an offer from the University of South Carolina this week. Last week it was North Carolina State. Giles also has offers from Florida, Florida International, Tennessee and UCF.

One of Hilllsborough County’s leading rushers last season with 1,478 yards and 20 touchdowns, Giles is also receiving a lot of interest from Georgia.

Giles is expected to attend the Vols and Seminoles football camps this summer.

Giles also has offers from nearly all the Florida colleges, including the Gators, Florida State and USF. Tennessee reportedly remains a front runner for Giles services.

From the FSU site. Giles has named a final four of Tennessee, Nebraska, Clemson and Florida State (all offered). He would really would like to go out of state for school, and notes that Tennessee leads.
