I believe he will be a Gamecock.

Looking at his myspace, I don't know that I want him here. To me, it sounds like he's in way over his head.

I'll be more then happy to accept him if he comes here, but if he doens't, i'm not going to be heartbroken.

I have thought all along Giles would come back to UT. But now I am wondering if something is going on with Drayton behind the scenes. I feel like if Giles commits to SC today, then Drayton will not be on the UT staff much longer and Giles knew it all along. I think something is going on, and I would say we will eventually find out what it is. It will be interesting to see where Drayton ends up if he is let go by UT.

Drayton should have been fired immediately.

Don't want him, we got Oku and that is enough.... I beleive Oku is the better back of the two, way more physical and that is what Ut needs right now. I have had enough of a 235 pound tailback juking 2 yards behind the line instead of lowering his shoulder and hitting the hole hard. Just my .02 .

Is his decision in any way a referendum on Kiffin's recruiting skills, or does he get a pass on this one?

Kiffin has an extraordinary body of work in recruiting. If this kid goes to USCe, it's more of a reflection on Giles' poor decision than on Kiffin's recruiting capacity.

I don't think a fair evaluation of Kiffin's recruiting capacity at UT will be on the books until his 2010 class is completed. It will NEVER come down to one recruit, especially one who plays a position in which we're already 3 or 4 deep.

I think it's a testament to his skills as a recruiter that we are still mentioned in the Top 2. This kid was NOT very pleased when Fulmer was let go, and had some hard feelings towards UT. I know Drayton is a key cog, but Kiffin deserves credit as well for keeping us on the kid's radar.

Well as much as a good player this kid is, I would prefer someone who WANTS to be a VOL...Almost sounds like WE are in a bidding war with him and its getting to be a tug o war...I would like him but not going to lose sleep if he goes to USCe and wastes his career.

I don't think so. Kiffin should get a pass on this one, as a matter of fact the rest of the class for this year too. I think everything he pulls in will be gravy. Next year's class will say a lot more.

I really don't see a problem with him going to South Carolina.

He's a good high school back but Tennessee already has commitments from one rated significantly higher than him in Oku and it is likely that T. Williams, a big, fast I-back, is headed here as well. In addition, Thigpen is another RB/Athlete who is coming and who is ranked slightly higher than Giles and Thigpen runs a 4.34 forty.

With the backs that are already here (who, in my opinion, can be very solid) and the ones likely coming, Giles may be worried, and with good reason. He is looking for a place he can be the man. If he comes, great. But if he returns to his first choice at South Carolina, who could blame him?

Personally, I hope they find a way to use this scholarship to land a top-rated line prospect on either side of the line. That's who we really need, not another serviceable college back.

Giles is a Cock. Oh well, it was expected. We still have a lot of running back depth.

Not that I don't believe you guys, but does anyone have a link to see the announcement?

Not to judge, but from his MySpace and Facebook stuff that people have been posting, this guy seems like an academic liability. He might not even see the field at any school if he has to take freshman English.
