What else would anyone expect from a lunatic like Gillispie? It's what unemployable people do, try to get something for nothing.

When he's coaching in a BCS conference and Tanning Bed is attempting to revive his career in the Mountain West or the Horizon League in a few years, I'll pull this gem up.

What does Pearl have to with Gillispie being unemployed and suing his former employer with an unsigned contract in his brief case?

If you think he's unemployable, you'll have to consider Tanning Bed radioactive when he flames out here.

That unsigned contract will be replaced by a very large check in the near future.

I'll comment on that when he flames out. At this point his security is higher than Gillispie's ever was at UK.

Maybe, but it's a pretty bush league move to sue the people that fired you for being a douche.
Not when one of the main reasons they fired you was that they claimed you didn't live up to the terms of the memorandum of understanding. Kentucky can't have it both ways. Either it's enforcable or it's not. Time for Barnhart to go panhandle for some dough.

Unless anyone agrees his termination was not "without cause". It's pretty clear his record gave the university cause to fire him.

How about taking money from people who fired you for being a loser? If that's bad too, coaches shouldn't have contracts.

I'll pull this gem up when they cut a multimillion dollar check. That argument will work for UK about the same time Phillip Fulmer wins another SEC title.

I don't recall a coach suing a university over payment based on a contract. That's the sticking point for Gillispie - no contract so his recourse is to sue.

He didn't have a contract but had a MOU and It appears in the MOU that

Gillispie, if fired, would be paid $1.5 million a year for as long as four remaining years on the agreement.

As an observer, it appears UK has plenty of ammunition in a legal battle. Gillispie has a vague Memorandum of Understanding. Obviously UK thinks they are clean or it wouldn't have come to this.

if he was "fired without cause". That's the question - was it without cause? Whatever that means.

They've already offered him $3 mil and they take over the payments on his $2 mil house in Lexington. That's how confident they are in their position. They figured Billy Clyde would be concerned about maybe scaring potential future employers and take less than what he's owed. Since he already has the inside track on two BCS jobs where the coaches will be blown out after '09-'10, he doesn't have such worries.

See what your saying but I would think that BCG would not want UK to be able to "air his dirty laundry" in a public forum. So I dont think the lawyers will be caught up on "fired without cause". IMO there is always cause to be fired if someone is fired that is probably just something schools have to put in the contract.
