Gillispie Sues UK -- Link

As an observer, it appears UK has plenty of ammunition in a legal battle. Gillispie has a vague Memorandum of Understanding. Obviously UK thinks they are clean or it wouldn't have come to this.

if the MOU is agreed upon by both parties it should be enforceable

Gillespie will get the money

Bottom line, both sides think they have a case. It'll be interesting how it plays out.

He's not one bit concerned about that.

Really you don't think BCG would want other schools knowing for sure the had made a player sit on the toliet during halftime or tried to kicked players off the bus after a game and untold other things he did? You don't think this could hurt his career or future recruiting with mom's and dad's?

I know they would have to have player testify to this so if probably would never happen but it could if UK wanted to push it hard enough.

He's done things like that at all of his previous stops. Further, those incidents are child's play compared to some of the things other gainfully employed coaches do on a regular basis.

True but those Coaches/He didn't have to take it to court.

I think other programs would be concerned with how he took down one the most respected teams in college basketball in the blink of an eye more than anything.

Especially considering the next guy has talk of national championships within a few days of arrival.

There aren't any secrets in college basketball. If you sign up to play for Billy Clyde, you know what you're getting. It won't hurt him if they play the allegations on a continuous loop on the CBS Evening News.

I get that I guess I am thinking more about having to speak to them in front of a Judge. I am probably overthinking it.

People who think they have a case don't offer to take on $5 mil worth of obligations before litigation is ever filed.

Could be seen as good faith on the part of UK. To go from 5 to 6 isn't a huge leap in the coffers.

They've already offered him $3 mil and they take over the payments on his $2 mil house in Lexington. That's how confident they are in their position. They figured Billy Clyde would be concerned about maybe scaring potential future employers and take less than what he's owed. Since he already has the inside track on two BCS jobs where the coaches will be blown out after '09-'10, he doesn't have such worries.

May be common knowledge, but I haven't been paying attention...which are these?

Not much else to add here, but Gillispie is crazy, imo, if he thinks he's entitled to the whole 6. And he's crazier if he thinks he's going to get a better offer than the 3 plus 2 for the house deal.

I guarantee you that some booster agreed to fund the buyout sometime back in March, whatever it ended up being.
