The Sycamores were the oddball family in this picture. It was quite popular when it played in the theaters and an excellent example of a pre-war Jimmy Stewart performance.
A sycamore can grow to massive proportions, typically reaching up to 30 to 40 m (98 to 131 ft) high and 1.5 to 2 m (4.9 to 6.6 ft) in diameter when grown in deep soils. The largest of the species have been measured to 51 m (167 ft), and nearly 4 m (13 ft) in diameter. Below is an example of six sycamores grown and shaped over years by arborsculptore, Axel Erlandson.
