Glad I didnt play at UT

I'm just happy these fans still care. A lot of speculative calls have been made over the last year or so and we still have fans jumping at the bit. I'd call those VFL IMO. I'm happy to be a VFL and I'm happy the coaching BS is over. I'm neither ya or na on the results of everything, but I will say we all need to drop this BS and rally for these guys. CBJ has a uphill battle in recruiting since Looney Tones and Company were running our show the last 3 years.

I did play at UT and am damned glad that I did. I was not a name you would recognize and it was in the Dickey/Battle time.

I am also glad that you didn't play at UT. I am proud of my background and obviously you would not be.

Fans wanted Tee Martin because he is Tee Martin. He isn't a superstar coach but is a well known name with a Volunteer heritage. He would have been an asset in recruiting and as a coach. He is a good person and they wanted him. They wanted him badly. Had he said, "No, thanks" it would have been over. Instead, they poured emotion out in an effort to win him. He shrugged. It hurt their feelings. I was disappointed and don't think I ever met him.

The truly disheartening part is that this hire needs to unite the Volunteer fanbase. It was on the way to doing that to a very high degree. Now, much of the unity is directed in a negative direction toward Tee, Cheek, and Hart. At least bUTch Jones is managing to stay ahead of the flak ... so far.

After helping win a huge NC for a university, I'd hate to know I OWED the fanbase even MORE by devoting my entire coaching career to only be at that school, especially if I didn't seem too particular about who was coaching.
I've been embarrassed the last week over this Tee crap. Some posters I've read are worse than Bama fans and living around a ton of those idiots, that's saying a lot. Let the man live his life. Being a VFL doesn't mean he owes any of you jack. He isn't going to change what he and his family wants to make some piece of crap fans happy. You bashing a man for making a decision you don't like means you are no more of a VFL than he is. So go away.

The internet, sadly, has opened my eyes to a world of a$$hole UT fans.

Most sensible comment I have read in a while. I just don't get our fans sometimes.

I don't think Tee owes me or this fanbase anything but the truth and some common courtesy. If you're not interested, THAT IS FINE WITH ME, but don't get on a plane, and add one more public rejection to an off-season like this? Just say, thanks but no thanks, and enjoy LA?

Once you make the whole process a public spectacle, for no other reason but to pad your own ego, you have EARNED THE IRE! It's obvious he had no intention of taking the job, and again, I am ok with that. But the only reason he came to Knoxville was to rub UT's nose in it and pad his own ego. I'm not ok with that. If you're ok with Tee Martin feeling better about himself at our expense, more power to you.

That simply rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. If you're not one of those people, a difference of opinion is what makes America great, but that doesn't make me a piece of crap fan ... makes me a proud one.

Vanderbilt...they have no fans.
How would Joe Thompson answer that he hated Vandy with a passion. Anything about them was not to be discussed by or around him. Some of you probably don't even know him, he's one of the best vols to play the game.

I think it's crazy how the fn base felt Tee's return was critical for him and for the team. I thint we will survive just fine without him, and he will do fine out there. I just hope fans don't start a "we gotta have Tee lovefest" every time there is an opening.

The internet, sadly, has opened my eyes to a world of a$$hole UT fans.

There are a-holes on just about every board that I've visited on the internet, but it is a shame to see people behaving with such ugliness in the name of our university. Don't get me wrong; I don't think that the school is sacred ground or that we alumni are necessarily all that great. But we are definitely a better group of people than some of the ignorant and mean characters who attach themselves to our athletic programs as so-called fans.

Tee is Kiffins Bit**.screw him!

What is wrong with you people? Would you turn down a job that will pay you more money? I do not blame Tee one bit. I blame the Tennessee AD dept more. Because we should of hired Tee years ago.

Just thought about this. What if Tennessee is Tee's dream job, yet has aspirations to be a head coach of a big time program someday like UT? Down the road, it would seem harder for Tennessee to eventually hire someone like Tee as a head coach if people see him as their assistant. Therefore, hold off on UT until possible head coach position is open someday. Granted, way ahead of current situation as no one sees Tee that way, but I'm sure he has head coaching dreams. I realize that Fulmer was hired after being our assistant, but that's not the norm.

Was anything said on your behalf? Are you the Grand Poobah of all that is written?

I didn't agree with the criticism of T's decision, but everyone has the right to voice their own opinion.

Agree 100% with op. We have such hypocritical fans. They bash Kiffin for leaving us after 1 year to go home and then bash Tee for NOT leaving them after 1 year to come home. Embarrassing!!!!

Playing at Tennessee is worth anything you have to endure after you are out of school. So, if you are glad you did not play at Tennessee, I am also glad you did not play here. I am not pleased at how the fans have been acting for the last few years, but they also did not play football at Tennessee. If they had, they would not be posting the stuff they post.

To be fair, after graduation, UT didn't want Tee until he went out and grew into a coach.

Can't blame a guy for making a family decision.
