Beck is one weird dude - he's definitely got a schtick.

Becks personality reminds me of Tom Cruise for some reason. He has a very Bi Polar persoality, and he lets his emotions control him.

I have to admit that I tune in to him from time to time just to see what he will say next however, I dont see how anyone could take his words seriously.

He is a freaking fruitcake.

I find him funny and entertaining at times - I certainly don't take anything he says seriously.

I've met Glenn Beck and spoken with him; he seemed like a very nice guy.

Then again, there were no microphones or cameras on at the time.

(I did greatly enjoy him a couple years back absolutely hammering on Columbus mayor Mike Coleman; that was radio gold)

The only girl you need to worry about is 6ft of heaven!

She wouldn't be in the top 5 when it comes to Fox girls.

Glenn Beck was great when I first discovered him in 2005, and he was mainly a commentator on current events with a funny and conservative twist. However, starting in about 2006-2007 he became all doom and gloom, and at first I drank in every word he said, because of the above. Then, I finally caught on and realized that this is how he "sells" himself and gets his ratings. The sky is CONSTANTLY falling, and he makes solid predictions (dates and everything when the Apocalypse is going to happen) by using facts and twisting them into fairly "possible but most likely not probable" scenarios. He just became too shrill and bat crap insane for me to take him seriously or even enjoy him anymore. However, I don't even think he buys into his own crap, I really think he's just making himself stand out from all the others with this schtick.

John Stossel interviewed Beck last night on 20/20. I didn't know he became Mormon so that his wife would marry him. I'll give Beck credit, weather you like him or not he does seem sincere in his beliefs instead of some phony pretending to be something in order to make money. He also seems to be more pro conservative than pro republican and doesn't mind calling out either party.

I think thats the 1st time I've seen anyone draw a distiction between conservative and Republican. There used to be such a thing as a conservative democrat.

These two sentences seem to clash.

I don't think so. A lot of men or women join a religion in order to go to the same church as their spouse or before a couple gets married. I just assmumed that he was raised Mormon as it is probably not a religion that many people convert to as often. I don't know, maybe they do. Anyways, I don't think that is a judgement of his character weather he comes across sincere or not.

If he was raised Morman, would he have to ever convert back?

I was just pointing out that if he converted to a religion simply to marry, that could be considered phony. Not phony for money (unless you think he married for tax breaks), but I'd still have to question if his faith is totally genuine if he converted only for that. If that's what you're saying.

I never understood how Glenn Beck got a tv program, his radio show is average. He comes on opposite of Neil Boortz here, I usually listen to Boortz.

as opposed to Olbermann, Maddow, and Chris Matthews having their own shows?

Beck's ratings speak for themselves.

All the ratings I've seen show him behind O'Reilly, Hannity, and Greta.

Boortz is good and I like beck too just don't care for when he starts cry and crap like that. But both of them say the stuff that a lot of people are thinking.

No, he had that faux pensive look he goes to when he's trying to get people to take the absolutely insanity he's spewing seriously. If I were the sane hosts at Fox, I'd want this guy the Hell out off my airwaves before his idiocy hurts our credibility.

Object to the form.

his show is 5pm, not really primetime. people are just getting from work. he still beats olbertool and olbertool has a primetime slot.

Olbertool might not have the sheer numbers that the Fox people get, but sheer numbers aren't exactly the end-be-all. Demographics of the ratings are also really important, don't forget that.

Personally though, both stations suck ass.

olberman's ratings fail even in key demographics.

young and old alike don't want to watch a short, fat 50 year old failed sports reporter's one-sided rant about politics.

I'll need a link. Last time I saw the numbers, O'Reilly had the better overall numbers, but Olberman had more of the 20 to 49 demographic. And how does Fox's Hannity not fit that same description?
