Jeff the Air Force never participated in the draft. Sounds like your Dad was in the same situation I was in and rather than be drafted into army or marines elected to enlist. The trade off was either a four year tour vs a two year one and almost sure trip to Southeast Asia.

Yeah my dad enlisted into the Air Force rather than be drafted into the Army or Marines.

So Zippy was that for induction into marines or Navy. I know for sure that the Air Force only took enlistees. Have several friends who enlisted in Navy as well during that time.

Thanks, Jeff, but I didn't volunteer. Ole Lyndon volunteered me. Otherwise, I would have been here to what most 20 year old guys do, partying and chasing tail.
