Go back to the table with Gruden

Nobody wants a coach that we have to drag here...DO NOT HIRE STRONG! He will never be all in for Tennessee!!

I think it's so funny how personally all of you take this coaching search. It's like each coach that gets an extension is giving you personally the finger.

It's business. UT is a good school...one of the best statistically and traditionally.

Dave Hart is doing his job. You just don't like that you don't know the details...and why would you? You're just a dude on a chat forum.

Keep calm and GBO!

This might be a good piece of wisdom....but no one is all in for a school. Except for Fulmer...and we kicked him to the curb.

Money talks.

Well here's one... How does that song go? Rumor Has it? Some Louisville sites I've been in reporting UT VIPs in Louisville. Just a rumor, ok?!? :)

No, we definitely do NOT want to court Gruden any more. He is not coming here. To make another run at him would only make Tennessee look much more pathetic than it already looks. Face it, we will probably spend the next decade looking up from the bottom of the SEC and struggling to win against Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Vandy and Kentucky. It will be a while before it happens, but to get a great coach who will want to stay here for a long time will take a LOT OF MONEY, which we do not have right now. The more I think about it, the more disgusting the Fulmer firing looks. He probably had another ten good years left in him and Hamilton *****ed Tennessee good with that egotistical power move.

I take it you have never received pity sex. Begging may suck and make you look desperate, but if you get the answer your looking for it still feels good.

Never had pitty sex, but I'm sure it isn't nearly as good as when you actually turn someone on.

We've got to be patient. Quickly jumping into a hire wouldn't be a good idea, as evidenced by Hamilton's hiring of Derek Dooley. I'm glad we didn't have someone hired immediately after Dooley was dismissed.

We've also got to be careful. The University of Tennessee really doesn't have too much experience looking for football coaches. From 1977 until 2008, we only had two football coaches, and the replacement for the first one (the better one, in my opinion) was already in house. Though the way we treated Coach Majors - and Fulmer to some extent - might make some coaches think twice before signing on the dotted line with us, I think the name of the University of Tennessee, our heritage, and our potential will help us land the right guy to drive us out of this rut.

Reading today on other media sites that the Raiders are on the table to get Gruden. I also wonder what happened that caused the breakdown in the 1st Gruden/UT contact. I know it takes time folks, but really, it's a little embarrassing for other SEC schools to fire and hire (whether they're high profile or not) and we're still "searching".

Not trying to be ugly, but would you really have wanted Bielema or Malzhan at UT????

GBO VFL!!!

Well, since basically everyone and their mother is turning us down, I would think that Hart might grab a clue here and go back to the table with Gruden and actually get it right this time?! I figure that ship has sailed and Gruden's ego would not allow him to come in behind this total circus, but who knows?

Didn't say I wanted any of those guys. I just looked at how fast schools in & outside the SEC with vacancies filled theirs quickly--in some cases with decent not high powered hires. My desire for UT is the same as I believe the majority of us--to have a dedicated power coach who recruits strong talent and get the program at least back in the top 25 if not the top 5. Just my opinion.

If the Bears don't make the playoffs, Lovie may be looking for a job.

I agree that Lovie will lose his job if the Bears don't make the playoffs this year but what proof do we have that he's interested in coaching college football?

Lovie is an exceptional coach and would be my 2nd overall dream hire behind Tony Dungy but honestly neither would ever happen IMO.

When will yall get it through your heads that its not about the money?
Yep....Arkansas fans were told the same thing but they bought into the bogus reports about the interest level being serious. He is an NFL guy and wants to stay in the NFL for now. Besides...he could not live up to the hype. No way. I think people make him out to be a combination of Belichick and Lomardi. He isn't.

And here I thought I was only one in the world wishing Peyton and Hart were on the phone begging Dungy to take the helm! Oh well.

There is no proof he left the table to start with (or was even at the table). I want Gruden as much as the next guy, so let's see what happens in the coming days.
