Yeah, S.O.S. has been taken out. If it were still in, Utes would be considerably lower.

Actually Strength of schedule is still computed in the computer polls they took aut the margin of victory aspect. But SOS is still vey important in the comp polls.

That is why Tennesee fell in the BCS... Florida loss kills.

So you think if we win out we still have a legitimate shot? It just seems to me that there are too many teams ahead of us and I think our computer rankings only drop from our based on our remaining schedule. I would love to be wrong.

Winning out is a big "IF", but of course if the Vols win out, they might have a shot.

Most project Auburn to enter the SECCG unbeaten. I would venture to guess that at least 2 of the 3 teams (USC, Oklahoma, and Miami) will have lost by then.... so Auburn would probably be either 1 or 2 in the BCS. A win over such a highly ranked team in the SECCG would be a huge boost in the computer rankings as well as the 'human' polls. The Vols would probably vault over the once-beaten teams and Utah.

However, if Wisconsin finishes unbeaten... it would be difficult to jump them.

Also, here is what the BCS rankings would look like under last year's formula:

1-USC 2.57
2-Miami 4.46
3-Oklahoma 6.05
4-Auburn 7.88
5-FSU 13.08
6-Utah 16.18
7-Wisconsin 19.20
8-Tennessee 21.34
9-Cal 22.54
10-Texas 22.54
11-Georgia 22.98
12-Texas A&M 25.86

Okay, here's a comparison to last season.

The BCS rankings of 10/25/03 and how they finished:
1-Oklahoma (8-0) -- No. 1 (12-1)
2-Miami (7-0) -- No. 9 (10-2)
3-Fla St (7-1) -- No. 7 (10-2)
4-USC (7-1) -- No. 3 (11-1)
5-Georgia (7-1) -- No. 12 (10-3)
6-Ohio St (7-1) -- No. 5 (10-2)
7-LSU (7-1) -- No. 2 (12-1)
8-Wash St (7-1) -- No. 16 (9-3)
9-Nebraska (7-1) -- No. 20 (9-3)
10-Mich St (7-1) -- No. 31 (8-4)
11-Iowa (6-2) -- No. 13 (9-3)
12-TCU (8-0) -- No. 18 (11-1)

Of the top 12 teams in the 10/25/03 BCS rankings last season, USC and LSU were the only ones that did not lose a game the remainder of the season.
