Good morning Volunteer faithful. Here are a few thoughts from your resident Gator to get your day started.

1. Greatest upsets of the BCS Era. Football Sports College Athletics College Football Florida State Seminoles (Football) - SI Vault

I saw this posted here today and had some thoughts. Why isn't Appalachian State over Michigan #1 on this list. Never before had a 1-AA (they will always be 1-AA in my eyes) beaten a powerhouse team like Michigan before. I would also add Washington over USC from this season to this list. I am also tempted to throw in William and Mary over Virginia from the first game this season. Can you guys think of any other "upsets" you would add to this list?

2. SEC Commish Mike Slive contacted head coaches Urban Meyer and Lane Kiffin yesterday and warned both coaches to just STFU. Back in the offseason, all SEC coaches were warned not to bash or attack other coaches within the conference. I have not heard of any fines, but if this doesn't stop I am sure some sort of penalty will be assessed. Hopefully this kills any future remarks until next season so we can go on enjoying CFB.

3. World's Largest Outdoor cocktail party will remain in Jacksonville until 2016. This will make the Poodles...errr....BullPups mad. Oh well.

4. Upset special! Ole Miss travels to Columbia tonight to face the Gamecocks. I'm still not sold on Ole Miss. Call it a hunch, but I think the Cocks pull it out tonight.

5. Upset special part 2: Oregon will beat Cal. I didn't see anything special from Cal against Minnesota and Oregon is a better team.

6. H1N1 or as you guys put it, E1B4. This is still a scary thought in the scope of college football as well as a national pandemic scare. I found a good article on CBS.
National notes: Flu could bug national championship race - NCAA Football - CBSSports.com

7. Pete Carrol is a douche. Read this article and be glad that we have coaches who respect their players and would enver even think of treating them like this.

8. Safe Travels. I will be going to Phoenix tomorrow morning. I don't know that I will have time to do these thoughts of the day while away, but I will be back and continue them. Don't take this as a me leaving ala LG, but rather leaving you in suspense and making you want more of my opinions.

Have a great day Orange and White!

I bet your mom really enjoys your thoughts of the day. She must be so proud.

Seemed a tad arrogant to me as well.

1- Navy over ND last year was a historic if not "huge" upset.

2- I wish Slive would just shut his big, fat piehole. Neither guy has said anything that hurts anyone. It just adds to the fun of the rivalry. If he WAS going to say something... maybe he should have publicly scolded Meyer for saying Troy had more talent than UT like he did Kiffin when he accused Meyer of cheating.

To this biased reporters opinion, it seems Slive only gets concerned when Meyer is getting the worst of it.

3- I like Mark Richt as a human being... and significantly more than Meyer. But MR isn't going to regularly beat UF no matter where they play unless Meyer leaves. Meyer owns him even worse than he owned Fulmer... Richt has players.

UGA may have a better team than UF this year... on paper. I doubt very seriously they stay within two TD's.

4- Agree. I've been thinking that as well. Most of it goes directly to my disrespect for Nutt both as a coach and human being.

5- Not so sure about this one. Cal was caught napping with Minnesota. Oregon has already knocked off a top25 opponent. Tedford is definitely a better coach than the new lead Duck.

6- I've played sick. Alot of guys have. As my old HS coach used to say, "Rub a little dirt on it... You've gotta play with them little hurts".

7- Maybe Corp will transfer to UT? I'm not a Pete Carroll fan and he did go outside the lines on this one... but that hasn't been his MO.

8- Have a blessed trip. God be with you.

Why the negativity?
Not negative.....apathetic. It's not like a self serving gator fan on this board is breaking any new ground.

Don't you have a trip to take? We can't fully appreciate what we're missing until you leave.

Good post, ignore the negativity. I am not sold on Ole Miss either, but I'm not sure if USCjr is the team to expose them. They have already been all over the map this year. I'm afraid Snead will pick apart the defense that was exposed by UGA. I hope you are wrong on the Oregon/Cal game, I want Cal to be as good as possible to hand USC another loss this year. Finally, I agree with you on questioning why Appy State's victory is not on the list.

I'm not his mom... and I do enjoy his posts. He puts more thought into his than most of the posters here. He's also a real CFB fan that keeps up nationally and hasn't just latched on to the Gator bandwagon.

I hope he feels the pain of a thousand deaths when Kiffin leads the Vols to a 5 game run against Meyer and UF... but otherwise he seems like a good guy.

Seriously, I wouldn't have guessed Carroll would publicly slam one of his players like that. Bad for recruiting, team morale, etc. He seemed like a pretty classy guy prior to this incident.

Yeah....I think the arrogance of this clown is what rubs me the wrong way....not the content of his post.

I'd have the same reaction if he were one of our own.

BTW, Michigan v App St was number 2.
Right, I had made the suggestion that it should be #1 on that list. Michigan, although mediocre, still made it to a decent bowl game that year and beat Florida. Although it may have been mediocre to Michigan standards, a 1-AA win over a team like Michigan is still monumental in the grand scheme of things. Although that's just my opinion.

My wife says I have an ego too. It was one comment made over many posts. If you feel the need to judge me over one comment, then have at it. No worries here.

I can't believe neither of the USC at Oregon State games was on there.......some of those I wouldn't consider upsets.....i.e.-Texas / USC...it was the national championship game.

Good to know. I feel much better now. I'm only sorry that I validated your hunger for attention to the extent I have. It's like taking an alchohlic out for a beer.

I assure you it won't happen again.

Good stuff GoG. Lets hope any future QB's out there are noticing how Carroll "supports" his players vs what we've seen from CLK.

Keep in mind that this isn't the first time in the past year he has thrown his QB under the bus. When Mark Sanchez declared for the draft last year, he was VERY critical and very open about his disdain.
