Going to Cuba next month

I have not but think it would be a cool trip. Some recommend giving it 5 or so years to modernize a bit more.

Here is a very informative link from a family that recently traveled there.

Some points to note:
Your phone will not work there.
You will need Canadian or European currency.
There are no ATM's
There are no gas stations/convenient store for you to stop in and grab a drink and some chips or candy.
You have to declare a reason for going IE:"humanitarian mission" seems to be a good choice for most people.
Despite being third world, it's very safe as crimes against tourists are heavily punished.
You must have a Travel Medical Insurance card.

I plan on flying down this year, specifically to get there and experience it BEFORE it's 'modernized'. Otherwise one might as well just go to Key West.

There's a Stonegate Bank in Ft. Myers. If you plan on using plastic swing by there and get one of their MasterCards.

Cohiba Behike 25
H. Upmann
Hoya de Monterey
Cuaba Piramides
Ramon Allones

Bring these 5 back, find a cigar aficionado that likes Cubans but can't get them and make some trades.

Friend of mine went as soon as the border opened. He absolutely loved the culture, the people, and even the government officials he met.

I woke up at 2:30 this morning. Had to be at the airport at 4:00 am for my 7 am flight.

At the gate now in Tampa. Everything going well and no issues.
Rented a 1954 convertible...my friend said that may be the newest car on the island:)
I have a list of recommended restaurants of which I'll probably only get to a couple.

Anxious to hear how this trip went. We'll be heading down to Playa Del Carmen Mexico later this summer. Hoping to get to Cuba at some point.
