I can't tell if the booing or the sarcastic cheers when Worley kept the ball was worse last saturday. At least they are booing because they care and not laughing hysterically because they are apathetic.

THIS 100%. He can sell rebuilding. He can't sell 'Our fans are classless losers with nothing better to do than boo college kids.'

This is where you are VERY wrong. Butch is selling coming to a team that tremendously lacks talent and be a part of a historic program and be part of the legendary group of players that builds that program back up to it's rightful place.

He can sell a bad loss just as well as he could sell a huge upset.

The only thing he can't sell is fan apathy or negative reactions when the team is understandably struggling.

Notice how he keeps asking the fans to be there, be loud, be engaged??? He needs us and many of our fanbase is already turning their back on him...for what?

That he won't put in some freshman QBs who have only been on campus for 2 months?

Some of you all need a SERIOUS reality check and realize the rebuilding process started over last year when Dooley blew our one good chance at a decent season the past 5 years.

Butch is capable of getting the program back on top, but only if our fanbase helps him...not turns on him one month into the process.

I for one will be there the entire game Saturday and expect this team to play their best for 60 minutes.

I am so excited for the future of TN football under Butch Jones I can't even put it into words.

if the game is a blowout, hopefully the angry fans leave early and don't stay around to boo the whole game

If the team continues to play like this team has been playing, there will be booing. Lots of it. Worley will be heckled. It's counterproductive, but it's not a UT thing. It happens everywhere fans are frustrated and want change. It's a lot worse other places (like SC until yesterday).

There probably will be a lot of red diluting the orange sections where UT fans have sold tix. That's not cool, either, and the solution to everything is to play like a team that's going in the right direction.

Booing will scare off potential recruits and will lead to even more booing when the team is losing more games in the future because they won't have enough talent to compete...I hope this smacks some of our idiots in the face and makes them realize that in some ways they do indeed hold our future in their hands...Be classy even if we are losing and reap the benefits later.

Good post! I hope we show more class than a lot of people on VN! If you boo our team or our players, don't consider yourself a VFL!

The game between 2 dogs, Smokey and Uga.
This game may come down to which Dog leaves the largest Pile.

Don't boo. A lonely, freckle-faced sophomore tuba player could think it's directed at her. The son of an official, could believe his father is the subject of the scrutiny, drop out of school, and begin a life of gay-for-pay in exchange for Mike and Ike's and methamphetamine.

Also, student athletes are not professionals. Despite generally being 18-24, they are kids. Coaches are paid adults who are accountable to their respective athletic departments and schools. There is a mechanism in place to evaluate their decision making, their skill in leading players, and their overall ability to succeed at the school that hired them.

College football fans are a special breed of enthusiasts. The fact that you are willing to support your school and team by attending games, even through the tough years, means that you are invested in their growth and future successes. Booing sends the opposite message, is classless, and has no place in college athletics.

You are right on when you say that some need a serious reality check. It really is getting dispicable how some are acting.

Lets face it - one team tends to play "poorly" when another team is kicking ass
