Any word on his hamstring? Is he practicing? Will he play soon?

I haven't seen anything and was curious.

Funny how people on here piss and moan about how awful Golden is and then when he gets hurt and going to miss a few games people say " we are screwed without him"

Golden always gives his all for Tennessee. I think he has been banged up all year and it has affected his play.

He had an MRI yesterday and CCM will get the results today. He is currently listed as doubtful.

Yes and yes - I piss and moan - because I saw how Golden is capable of playing when he was on - last year. He had several games where he played extremely well - have been disappointed that he hasn't been able to match that this year. Seperately, we are arguably screwed because our starter at point guard is out and the backup is a 5' not much walk-on. I don't fault Lopez any more than I fault a walk-on linebacker who is undersized but giving his all for the Vols.

As I recall - he was overwhelmed one game that he played in and played well the other two that I recall seeing him in action. I still don't know if he can shoot 1/8 from the field and 1/3 from the free throw line so it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Something lost in the shuffle and concern over Maymon's knee surgery is the fact that Golden had off-season knee surgery too. I know nothing was ever reported as wrong and I'm not sure what exact procedure he had done , however he is the only one of the 3 that actually made it back to the floor this season (not exactly a ringing endorsement for the medical staff). He hurt his knee last year and played a few games before letting the coaching staff know something was actually wrong because he was so important to last year's team. Maybe this year he came back before being 100% because he was so desperately needed on the floor again this season. Also, in football when a guy has knee surgery they say it takes a full season for them to start "trusting" the knee. Maybe Golden is struggling with some of that as well. Now he has a hamstring injury to deal with too. I hope he gets 100% healthy soon. UT really needs the Golden that was part of finishing so strong in the SEC down the stretch last year.

^ the only thing that makes me doubt that is he was playing exceptionally well to start the season. However, if there's an issue with his surgically repaired knee, we need a new medical staff. 0/3 on knee surgeries isn't a good percentage, especially for a surgery on an area as common as the knee in basketball.

Totally agree. If UT can't see that then they are blind.

Was he playing exceptionally well at the beginning? I honestly don't recall. I didn't see the Ok State game so I can't comment there, but he has seemed to struggle almost from the outset against better than average competition. I'm sure he was doing fine against the sub-200 RPI teams early on but once UT moved on to the big boys, where physicality and strength begin to matter, his game started to wain. I have no insight here other than posing a "what-if". I think it might be as much mentally getting over having had a knee injury as anything else, but if we find out he had never really recovered 100% from the surgery it would explain much about his performance this season.

Also, Miller truly baffles me. It wasn't reported that his injury was that severe. Has he just decided not to rehab? Does he have some type of degenerative condition where they just decided to shut him down? I can't believe there has been no comment on him. I'm not sure he would have made a huge difference in the way the season has gone, but there have been times, where another 6-8 or so guy with Miller's strength would have come in handy. If for nothing more than having 5 fouls to give. With a roster already down 1 man, and now possibly down 2, you would think it would be all hands on deck, and yet Miller continues to not play and nothing, as far as I have seen, has been mentioned about him.

Looking at the numbers he played well against UMASS early, but that was really the only good performance against good competition that I see...Played well against Mississippi state 10pts 9ast In 26 minutes, but we all know the quality of Mississippi State. So maybe you're on to something with the mental aspect.

I'd think that McRae will start at the PG position and Lopez and Moore will relieve him. We need all the ballhandlers we can get and I guarantee you that Ark will be pressing the hell out of us. If we aren't careful, this one could get ugly.

Left. But I've heard many times that returning too early from any injury increases chance of other injuries, you start over compensating even if it's subconsciously.

yep. But whatever it has been--shoulder, knee, or whatever--I didn't like hearing Jimmy Dykes talk about Trae being at the shootaround for an hour and a half the other night and not saying a word to his teammates. That lack of leadership on the floor has killed us this year.

Yes, that is concerning. I fear something is going on with Golden that we don't know about. Whether it be an injury, something personal or he isn't getting along with his teammates, something isn't right this year.

Hopefully we'll see a lot of 4 guard lineups.
