Gone but not forgotten: Knoxville area restaurants and retailers we miss.

There were 4 Stefano's in West Knoxville that have closed. West Hills, Cedar Bluff, Farragut, and Turkey Creek. TC closed shortly after opening.
Was the West Hills location on Kingston Pike going towards Bearden Hill on the left...near Greene Military? If so, wasn't there a Mexican restaurant in that same general area?

Stefano's was just west of U-Haul. I think there was a military store in that building. Unpainted Furniture used to be the western most space. I don't remember a Mexican place in that immediate area. Bearden Hill is about a half mile to the east. 2 different Pizza Huts were on Bearden Hill.

Godfathers was on Kingston Pike west of West Town Mall. Just north of Ray Mears Blvd... across from the shopping center that had Athletic House, Ruby Tuesday's, Toys R Us, Trader Joe's, Lamon Jewelers, and Barnes & Noble.
Thanks...then it was closer to Stefano's and Greene Military.

There have probably been 4 or more Mexican restaurants on Bearden Hill. Next door or in the same space as Calhoun's (Casa Galardo?... with the Why Not? margarettas), on the very top were the motel was (Terrace View?), and maybe 2 or 3 in the original Pizza Hut building on the NE corner of KP and that street that goes down to Papermill Road. Mexicali Rosa or similar rings a bell. That might have been the name of the one at or near the hotel.

The old Pizza Hut building was El Charro for a long time, like most of the 90s and at least the early 00s, maybe longer. Mexicali Rose was sort of across the street, but I remember it existing in the mid to late 80s at least, and I'm not sure how far into the 90s, if at all.

What's the El Charro/Pizza Hut today? Señor Taco?

I haven't lived in Knoxville for nearly 20 years but looking at it on Google street view, the sign out front says SoccerTaco. They've tried to make it look less PizzaHutty by taking the fin off the roof and painting it but the trapezoidal windows are a dead giveaway.

Yes, Soccer Taco. Señor Taco is somewhere else.

Pizza Hut moved across Kingston Pike and a building or 2 farther east. The parking lot might have been too small in the original spot. The newer building was a bit larger as well.

There are a bunch of restaurants no longer on top of Bearden Hill. Darryl's 1879 and Fazoli's in addition to many already mentioned. China Inn or something similar was on the eastern side of BH for decades. Grady's at the bottom of the western slope. Old, original Arby's. Kay's. Gatti's. Mini-Deli. Wendy's. All just west of BH. Long John Silver's, Burger King, and Taco Rancho just a bit more west. Several others no doubt.

Anyone remember when the Marriott Downtown was the Hyatt and they had a really cool Sunday Brunch up on the top floor?

We would go when friends and family would visit from out of town and I remember as a kid being so excited to ride the glass elevators.

The Hyatt Regency. One of my greatest childhood memories was when they had the goalposts set up in there and kids could try to kick field goals with nerf footballs. The POTS band would come through there, with the cheerleaders. Surreal stuff for a kid.

Mancinos was great in the beginning. The last couple years, not so much.

Their brother/whatever also had Bellacinos which was good, too.

I never got a solid explanation as to why he closed. It was like one day they were open and the next day their was a sign on the door.

There was a godfathers pizza in the Clinton plaza shopping center a long time ago. Probably in the mid 70s.
