Gone but not forgotten: Knoxville area restaurants and retailers we miss.

It was the Kingston 4. Kingston Cinema 4 iirc. The Time Out Deli is gone. The K4 parking lot was still there minus the building not too many years ago, but it might have disappeared when the TOD lot was redeveloped. There was a tiny used car lot between K4 and TO Deli.
Also West Knox Nissan was right there too after the Kingston 4 was gone, I bought my 88 Nissan Stanza there in 88

Yes I remember Cas Walker stores, they had a big pair of scissors onView attachment 277212 their sign View attachment 277212

Many of the old Cas Walker buildings still stand. The one in front of the old Bearden High School and BJHS is still there. I believe that he had "Cost Cutter" trademarked and Kroger had to pay him a royalty on that when they used Cost Cutter as their genetic brand.

All of the Cas Walker stores were on the right hand side of the major roads as you drove away from downtown.

I believe that Cas Walker also had some walking horses

There was also a club on the corner of Kingston Pike and Paper Mill, I think that it was associated with a motel

I don't remember a motel right at the corner. Hill's Shopping Center was at the NE corner, Putt-Putt was across Papermill, and Arby's was just a little farther west, then Kay's Ice Cream beyond that. Several restaurants filled in between Putt-Putt and Arby's (including the original Grady's). The Mount Vernon Hotel was a motor court type of motel just a little farther west that had many businesses in it after it stopped operating as a motel, including a bar/nightclub. The Mount Vernon building lost a few rooms on the eastern end for the first Wendy's, but the rest of the building still housed businesses until about 5 years ago when Weigel's built a bigger store at their corner and tore the rest of MV down.

I am wanting to say that it had the name Terrace in it, but I could be completely wrong

What a shame to tear MV down

Why is the sign bigger than the building itself?!

Probably knocking out 2 things together. Big signage plus it's what customers pulled under when they checked in. Kind of like the orange roofed entrances for Howard Johnson's. I don't know if the Terrace View was open at the top or not. TView had a whole bunch of separate buildings scattered throughout the property. There might still be some relics of foundations up there today.

The Rodeway in on Cedar Bluff would have a Gong show every Monday, and lets just say there was a lot of interesting talent lol. A lot of the restaurant workers back then like me did not get off of work until around
11:00 p.m. so everybody would go to Flanagans until they closed and then the "Tale of the Fox" lounge at the Rodeway Inn on Cedar Bluff. They also had a house band that wore those baby blue suits with the
ruffle shirts and always played the Stevie Wonder song "Boogie Only Woman" during intermission.

It's still there. Club LeConte is part of Club Corporation of America. My cousin has worked at CCA for decades in Chicago.

Well at least it is still there and you know that the old Butcher Mansion is on youtube

Add Babalu a trendy taco spot in Knoxville to the list, permanently closed due to Covid 19
Its sad how everything in life has changed in just a few months, and lots of good people are gone now, and lots of good people are struggling :(

The Kingston 4 was at what's now the back side of Rooms To Go. GE photos below from 2019 and 1997. That's Gallaher View Road on the left if you can't read it.
