Physiology can’t be practiced. Sooners will be much better at dealing with the heat. Maybe why so many Vols have had substantial playing time this early in the season. Heupel knows.

No. There will be no humidity and a breeze. Humidity is what takes it out of you. If the game was at 3PM, then it would affect the players, but evening, sun going down and no sun, no humidity, our players will be just fine. I lived out west for 5 1/5 years. There is a big difference in the evening when you have humidity vs no humidity. Go Vols!!!

This heat favors UT bigtime. Our D will be able to get off the field. Theirs, not so much… Our O-line and Sampson will be pushing them Oklahoma boys down the field like they were on skates come fourth quarter.

Don't know about K- Town, but it's been hot and dry here in the Ringgold/Chattanooga area. Players should adjust just fine imo.

It isn't hot in Knoxville when these guys were going through August? The OKC-Norman area is just generally nasty, hot/cold, and undesirable.

If the coaches thought it was needed they could have closed up the indoor facility and gotten the heat up to 100 pretty easily. But my wager is that OU also limited the amount of time they practiced in the heat to avoid injuries.

Smokey Grays at noon in August wasn’t exactly what one would call comfortable.

Butch that you?

“First time for 27% of our players have ever experienced 96+ degrees at kickoff in September.”

I thought that it would be in the 70's in Norman at kickoff.

What forecast you looking at?
The one on my phone, so I assume it's Apple. However, now it says it will be about 83 at kickoff. I just checked Weather Underground, and it's saying about 91. Still not too hot, but then again I love hot weather. I prefer 100 over 60 any day.

It will be hot but it won't be humid. The sun will be down by 7:30. It will be ok. We have played in worse

For the first time I can remember in ages, Heup has given us a Team were we have a edge in depth. The very fact that we can sub so frequently on the D line especially will be an advantage in the heat, especially late in the game

Meh. We practice in it too. The OU defense not being able to sub out while we run a play every ten seconds will take its toll on them.

I became a Tennessee fan after moving to Kingsport, TN in 1991. The Vols played #21 UCLA in Knoxville the second game of that season. Me, being young and foolish and having just moved there from southern California, ran my mouth about how UCLA was going to beat those hillbillies to death. Made several bets with co-workers as well. It was over a hundred degrees on the field at Neyland at kickoff. Tennessee beat UCLA by two touchdowns. I'll never forget the sight of the UCLA players on the sidelines heaving up their breakfast while those hillbillies ran rings around them. I've been ride or die with the Vols through good and Butch ever since. I don't think they'll have a problem with the heat in Norman tonight.
