He's going to end up being one of the most respected coaches in college basketball. That will help him with recruiting.
If you want lying scumbags to represent your university, then go on ahead.
He told a lie and paid the price for it......He did a lot of good things at Tennessee and did not leave us in any trouble with the NCAA....he still does a lot of charity work in the area and still supports us publicly and is supportive of coach Martin....Everyone has sin in their life and his was bad enough to lose his job but not bad enough for me to hate the man.
I get what you're saying, and that's totally reasonable. But the guy put the university at extreme risk. He also showed a lack of good decision making resulting in three very unethical acts: hosting an event he knew was not permitted, lying to an NCAA officer while under investigation, and trying to cover up.
No one can ever deny the great great things he did here, but he obviously doesn't deserve a job at a school that has serious and realistic aspirations to be an elite NCAA team.

Not exactly true.
And I don't hate Bruce Pearl. I hate what he did to Tennessee.
I disagree....the only thing her did to tennessee was force us to get a new coach.....I was worried with ncaa looking hard at us what they might find bruce doing wrong and they found nothing else besides very minor things.....I have watched and attendedut basketball since them devoe era and pearls six seasons was them best memories I have of ut basketball.
He has gained new respect for me by the way her handled his firing....most people would best bitter but her continues to talk good about us.....supports coach martin....even stated martin did a better job than he could have done and continues to help raise money in the knoxville area....excuse some of my spelling my smart phone is acting up lol
Nothing happened to UT becuase they finally fired Pearl. Had they tried to keep him as coach, the hammer would have fallen. Pearl has nothing to be bitter about really, he made his bed, now he has to lie in it. I do like the fact that he stayed in Knoxville, but I wonder how much of that is because of a huge mortgage on a house he probably can't sell in this market and a son that is in school locally (I assume his son is still here)
Thats true the hammer possibly could have come down had were tried to buck the system but the facts arend they found no major violations committed by Bruce Pearls staff....If they had found any and they were looking then Tennessee would have taken a big hit. I dont think its a big deal where her lives but I do think highly of the charity and fund raising her does in the knoxville community and them support her has shown martin and the university.
Thats true he shouldnt be bitter but its human nature to best and I think her has handled losing his job very classy....I agree her should have been fired but calling him a joke and him being vilified like he has been is ridiculous.
I was worried that Bruce would continue to hog the spotlight as usual. Maybe I'm wrong but he seems to be pretty quiet. And hopefully the amount of fans advocating his return in 2014 continues to dwindle.
There was an interview with Martin recently where he talked about how he and Pearl talk frequently. I think this speaks well of the character of both men.
