I've said it from day 1 .......Riley is going to kill it.

I know you guys have a thing for black QBs, but give Riley a chance.

Really? Yeah, that has been the number one priorty since Tee Martin left. We've had such a stable full of them.

People want a mobile QB. How you translate that is on you, not them.

Why don't you start a thread with a poll. Could look something like this.

1) W QB
2) B QB
3) Good Mobile QB
4) Don't care...QB's are overrated

See which one wins out

So you are saying alot of posters would feel the same excitement about him if he was white? (AKA Riley, Peterman or Worley)

I have read many posters say they hope Dobbs gets the starting job this year.

Maybe the ones who like Dobbs as a starter just think that he is better. Maybe you just don't like Black qbs. You brought race into the argument. Not anybody else. Dobbs is bigger, faster , smarter and more highly ranked. Maybe that is why people like him.

Actually yes. I have seen the same excitement about the other QB's. Until Dobbs came into the picture, I would say it was probably evenly split between Peterman and Worley as to who people wanted as a starter. It isn't that people don't like Riley. I would say that for the most part people just know less about him than the others.

Have you actually seen many posters hyping Dobbs or just a couple of posters posting many times. That's the problem on VN. People use everybody and many way too often.

At this point, we don't have a starting QB, and I don't care which one of them gets the job as long as they can lead the team.

Most posters, myself included, like Peterman a LOT.

People like Dobbs because he's mobile and brilliant. Very intelligent QB's are the ones to bet on.

I absolutely don't care who wins the job as long as they can lead the team, and frankly I hope Dobbs and Ferguson both redshirt so they can add weight. I firmly believe that Peterman wins the job this year. He seems capable of fitting in much like Kay did last season for Cincinnati. He's a big QB who won't wow you running but will pick up solid yardage if he decides to tuck it and run.

As for the fascination with Dobbs, I think a lot of that comes from his GPA, aspirations, and the fact that he was a late addition to the class. People had time to get settled in with Ferguson, and that rose-colored tint wore off. Neither freshman has a clear advantage in hunting for the starting job, now or in the future. Both have similar size, both can run, and both like to sling the football.

I think that Vol Nation always rates the QB's based upon their amount of bad plays that the fans have seen the QB's make on TV or in the stadium, and the newness of the name. Therefore, Vol nation would rank QB's as follows:

1) Dobbs ( newest name, not white, so must run like a gazelle, no bad plays)
2) Peterman( pent up demand from some from last year, no bad plays)
3) Ferguson ( would be 1st or 2nd if not for Dobbs, no bad plays)
4) Worley (has had the most bad plays by far, therefore is awful and has a rag arm)
5) High( local boy, can't be any good, so that trumps no bad plays, although some VN posters have probably seen some bad plays)

The way that I would rate them today without seeing but one take a snap in an SEC game.

1) Worley( most experienced)
2,3,4,5) No clue

Who will actually start?
1) The one who is most ready.

Who would that be?
1) Don't know.
2) Don't care.
3) but....probably Worley.

I think it was someone from ESPN that said the Vols have the best QB class now. We'll just have to trust CBJ and staff to make the correct pick and coach them all up. I have my own preference, based on very little, but want the best to lead the team and have quality to back him up.

Why in the hell do so many people want us to start a true freshman at QB? I don't give a damn if it's Dobbs or Fergs, we start either one we are dead meat! And those of you wanting to start a true freshman QB in the SEC will be the first ones calling them busts.

Because they're hoping for one of them to lead us to the type of season Ainge and Schaeffer provided in 2004. Of course, they forget that Rick Clausen (and a much better roster) had a lot to do with that season.

Yeah I hear ya, but that rarely happens. It's just funny because next year they'll be screaming for the newer freshman to start. It never stops. We have two good QBs in Worley and Peterman who are gonna slug it out. As I stated, if Dobbs or Fergs start it's not gonna be good, JMO.

Didn't you know? If you aren't starting true freshmen there is no way you will make it to a bowl game, much less the National Championship.

Agreed. They both need redshirts anyway. Neither one is there physically yet. I'm leaning towards Peterman based on how Butch used Kay at Cincy last year, but Worley and Peterman both make more sense than any true freshman.
